Senior Project Scheduler (Primavera P6)
Location: Houston, TX
Schedule: Full-Time, 40 Hours per Week
Pay Rate: $61.00 - $67.00 per Hour
 
 
Position Summary
A leading energy infrastructure organization is seeking an experienced Senior Project Controls Scheduler to support large-scale capital projects across the full project lifecycle. This individual will be responsible for developing, maintaining, and analyzing integrated project schedules for major engineering and construction programs, while collaborating with project managers, engineering teams, contractors, and stakeholders to ensure successful project delivery.
The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in project scheduling, earned value management, change management, and project controls within industrial, energy, petrochemical, LNG, pipeline, or related large capital project environments.
 
Key Responsibilities
  • Develop, maintain, and analyze detailed project schedules using Primavera P6 and Microsoft Project.
  • Monitor project progress and update schedules through stakeholder meetings, field verification, and contractor coordination.
  • Identify schedule risks, critical path impacts, and potential conflicts between project execution and safety requirements.
  • Perform schedule analysis and provide recommendations to improve project performance and execution strategies.
  • Support change management processes, including change notices, change orders, and schedule impact assessments.
  • Facilitate schedule reviews, progress meetings, and project controls reporting activities.
  • Apply Earned Value Management (EVM) principles to track project performance and forecast outcomes.
  • Assist project teams with constructability reviews, project planning strategies, and resource forecasting.
  • Develop project performance metrics, productivity tracking tools, and schedule recovery plans.
  • Coordinate with engineering, procurement, construction, and project management teams to ensure schedule alignment.
  • Prepare executive-level reports, dashboards, and project status presentations.
  • Mentor junior schedulers and provide guidance on scheduling best practices.
  • Support multiple concurrent projects while maintaining a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.

Must-Have Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business, Project Management, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 8+ years of project scheduling and project controls experience.
  • Advanced proficiency with Primavera P6 and Microsoft Project.
  • Experience supporting large-scale capital projects within energy, petrochemical, LNG, pipeline, industrial, or heavy construction environments.
  • Demonstrated experience developing, maintaining, and managing integrated project schedules throughout all phases of a project's lifecycle.
  • Strong understanding of Earned Value Management (EVM), project productivity tracking, schedule forecasting, and critical path analysis.
  • Experience with change management, schedule risk analysis, change order tracking, and project controls reporting.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines.
  • Strong knowledge of Project Controls, Scheduling, Critical Path Method (CPM), Cost and Schedule Integration, Progress Measurement, Forecasting, and Construction Planning.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to work independently and effectively collaborate with project teams and stakeholders.
 
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting capital projects valued at $500M to $1B+.
  • Background in midstream, downstream, refinery, petrochemical, LNG, or major infrastructure projects.
  • Experience with project productivity analysis and performance reporting.
  • Previous experience mentoring, coaching, or leading project controls or scheduling teams.
  • Professional certifications such as PMI-SP, PSP (AACE), or PMP.
  • Experience working within large EPC, engineering, construction, or owner-operator organizations.
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities and experience influencing project teams and stakeholders.
  • Advanced understanding of integrated cost and schedule performance management.
