Director, Project Controls

Location: Cameron, Louisiana

Work Schedule: 5/10 schedule (five 10-hour days per week)

Compensation & Benefits:

· Monthly taxable per diem: $142.40/day, paid for 7 days per week

· Monthly home travel: Out-of-town hires, one round-trip to the employee's home/point of origin is provided each month.

Position Overview:
The Director, Project Controls will lead a team of approximately 35–40 professionals responsible for all aspects of project controls, including:

  • Change Management
  • Cost Control
  • Scheduling
  • Earned Value Management (EVM)
  • Planning

Purpose of the Role

The Director, Project Controls provides strategic leadership and oversight across cost management, estimating, and planning/scheduling functions to ensure successful delivery of project services at a designated location. This role plays a critical part in shaping and aligning project controls activities with Client’s purpose of delivering a more sustainable world, supporting our ambition to lead in sustainability solutions.

The Director champions excellence in project execution, while fostering a culture of continuous improvement and collaboration. This leader contributes to Client’s transformation by integrating innovative, data-centric solutions and enhancing the effectiveness of project performance.

Key Responsibilities

· Develop and lead the implementation of strategic project controls programs across disciplines such as cost control, estimating, and scheduling to support the

successful execution of customer projects and internal initiatives.

· Provide leadership to project controls teams across locations or major projects, establishing a shared vision aligned with Client’s direction toward delivering

sustainable change.

· Oversee the development of systems, tools, and reporting mechanisms to ensure transparency, predictability, and control in project delivery.

· Serve as the senior advisor on project controls-related matters, driving consistency in standards, tools, and best practices across projects and teams.

· Collaborate with regional and location leadership to ensure project controls strategies support both current objectives and future sustainability-related targets.

· Inspire and mentor team members, fostering a culture of accountability, safety, and professional growth that aligns with Client’s values and commitment to sustainable transformation.

· Represent project controls in key decision-making forums, providing strategic insights to influence project planning and execution at a portfolio level.

· Lead cross-functional efforts aimed at improving performance, integrating digital technologies, and enhancing delivery models in alignment with client expectations and internal goals.

Qualifications / Skill Set

· A university degree or equivalent qualification in project management, engineering, construction management, or a related discipline.

· Extensive experience in project controls within the energy, chemicals, or resources industries, with progressive leadership roles demonstrating strategic impact.

· A deep understanding of project services functions including cost engineering, planning and scheduling, and estimating within large-scale project environments.

· Proven ability to lead diverse teams and influence across functions and organizational levels in a collaborative and inclusive manner.

· Expertise in project management systems and tools, with the ability to guide others and contribute to process improvements and system innovations.

· Strong communication skills with the ability to present complex information and recommendations to senior stakeholders with clarity and confidence.

· Demonstrated experience making independent decisions that affect long-range plans, business performance, and team development.
