The Opportunity
TC Energy is seeking a motivated and analytical new graduate to join our Project Controls team as a Project Controls Analyst. This role provides an excellent opportunity to develop foundational project controls knowledge while supporting capital projects across planning, estimating, cost control, forecasting, scheduling, and project reporting.
Working alongside experienced project controls professionals, project managers, engineers, and construction teams, you will gain exposure to the full project lifecycle and contribute to delivering safe, reliable, and cost-effective energy infrastructure projects. This role is designed to provide development opportunities and rotational exposure to various project services disciplines, including Cost Control, Estimating, Scheduling, and Project Controls.
What you'll do
  • Support project schedule analysis, cost tracking, reporting, forecasting, and estimating activities.
  • Learn and apply project controls principles, including cost management, estimating, scheduling, risk management, and management of change.
  • Assist in analyzing project expenditures, commitments, and forecasts against approved budgets.
  • Help prepare monthly cost reports, variance analyses, and project performance updates.
  • Support project teams in monitoring changes, risks, and impacts to project budgets.
  • Assist with purchase requisitions, invoice processing, accruals, and commitment tracking.
  • Gather, validate, and organize project data from engineering, procurement, construction, and finance stakeholders
  • Support development and maintenance of Work Breakdown Structures (WBS) and project reporting tools.
  • Participate in project meetings and contribute to project performance discussions.
  • Assist in identifying trends, risks, and opportunities that may impact project outcomes.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and lessons learned activities.
  • Build knowledge of project controls systems, processes, and industry best practices.
  • Participate in developmental rotations within estimating, scheduling, and other project services functions as business needs allow.
  • Champion TC Energy's safety culture and core values in all aspects of work.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, Project Management or other related disciplines
  • 0-2 years of experience (previous internships included)

Preferred Qualifications
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office applications, with experience using Excel for data analysis and reporting.
  • Experience using database and project management systems, including Omega PIMS, SAP, Primavera P6, Cleopatra, Power BI, and related reporting and query tools.
  • Exposure to project controls concepts such as estimating, scheduling, budgeting, forecasting, or risk management.
  • Interest in developing a long-term career within Project Services and Project Controls, with a desire to learn project controls, cost management, estimating, scheduling, and project delivery practices.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.
