Job description

Tax /Manager/Senior Manager We are looking for dynamic Tax professionals to join our growing team. We offer tremendous growth and development opportunities to assist with both your personal and professional goals. Are you ready for a new challenge.

Seeking candidates who have tax experience with either complex 1040s, high net worth clients, small businesses and partnerships.

We are willing to look at candidates who may be looking for either a Manager or Senior Manager level position (level based on experience). Location: Rochester, NY office. For most of our positions at Insero, one can work in the office every day or if you like, in a hybrid structure working up to 3 days from home.

*Our office is located in the heart of downtown Rochester. There is easy access to great restaurants and events, and featured amenities such as collaboration spaces, game room and firm paid for underground parking in a secure garage. We also have comfortable break rooms fully stocked with complimentary drinks and snacks.

Responsibilities: Reviewing difficult personal and business returns/work files for completeness, accuracy and compliance; communicates with and trains staff on areas needing improvements. Engages in complex tax planning and develops creative ideas to reduce tax liabilities. Reviewing tax research methodology, alternatives and conclusions.

Monitors tax deadlines to ensure that returns are prepared on a timely basis; communicates with managers during the preparation process to identify any tax issues needing addressing and to pull jobs so that they reach the technical review stage timely. Understanding and completing the steps in conducting research projects; preparing written conclusions, subject to Manager or Principal review. Assisting audit and accounting staff with non-complex tax questions.

Understanding tax accruals. Responding to routine IRS or state tax notices and if needed, participating in IRS audits, and administrative hearings. Mentoring and developing other tax professionals in the department.

Manager/Senior Manager duties also include: Work directly with our Tax Partners & Principals and would serve as a key technical liaison with clients; involved with both compliance and consulting projects. Serve as a front-line client advisor, developing strong, lasting relationships with clients and ensuring the highest quality in service delivery and compliance. Lead complex tax planning and strategy engagements, offering innovative and practical solutions to minimize tax liabilities and achieve client goals.

Review and evaluate tax research, methodology, and conclusions to ensure accuracy and quality. Manages workloads and work products of other tax staff members; delegates tax work to staff. Acts as key client contact person for select engagements.

Contributes to the client service team by producing quality work with quick turnaround and attentive service. Trains accountants and interns to prepare effective responses to tax notices and reviews for accuracy. Informs clients (or staff member) of tax options available and possible outcomes through clear and concise memos, emails or letters.

Requirements Qualifications: Minimum of 4 years' experience working in a public accounting firm with current tax experience with all different entity types. Experience servicing complex 1040s/high net worth individuals and small businesses (mix of S Corps and Partnership returns) would be ideal. A minimum of an additional 2 years supervisory experience is required for a management level position.

A proven record of simultaneously managing multiple projects and engagement teams for various clients. CPA license is highly recommended/preferred. Education and Experience Requirements: Minimum of a Bachelor of Science in Accounting (Masters in Tax a plus) CPA/EA required.

Managers who possess more Supervisory experience and normally have a minimum of 6+ years' experience in Tax working within public accounting would be considered for the mid-upper end of the range. In the spirit of pay transparency, we are excited to share the starting base pay range for this position is $95,000 - $130,000 annually. Please keep in mind that this range is base pay only and does not consider other components that make up the total rewards package for the position such as eligibility to receive discretionary spot bonus incentives.

This range is a reasonable estimate of the current salary range for this position. Actual compensation is influenced by a variety of factors including but not limited to skills, experience, qualifications, and/or education and geographic location. It is not typical for a candidate to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the capabilities and experience of the candidate.

Incentives, if any, depend on various factors, including, without limitation, individual and firm performance. *Manager Level Bonus Program: Managers are eligible for a discretionary MBO based annual bonus. The program consists of having proven accomplishments in established areas: Client Service, People and Growth.
