Headquartered in McLean, VA, By Light supports defense, civilian, and commercial IT customers worldwide.


The Senior Logistics Engineer serves as the primary stakeholder responsible for the development, delivery, and implementation of logistics products supporting projects across the ByLight portfolio. This role provides logistics leadership throughout the entire project lifecycle—from initial proposal and planning phases through system delivery and long-term sustainment. The Senior  Logistics Engineer works closely with project managers, engineers, and internal support staff to ensure all logistics planning, documentation, and execution meet program requirements and support successful system deployment and sustainment.

In this position, the Senior Logistics Engineer leads the development of simulation and logistics products that align with contractual requirements, including Data Item Descriptions (DIDs) and Contract Data Requirements Lists (CDRLs), for hardware integrated into ByLight system designs. The role involves guiding logistics support staff in collecting and analyzing data necessary to develop these deliverables, overseeing the preparation of required documentation, and producing briefing materials to support program reviews and stakeholder engagements.

The Senior Logistics Engineer also supports program leadership by assisting with the development and negotiation of statements of work, evaluating logistics contract performance, and helping establish milestones for key logistics events. The position requires the ability to assess complex logistics challenges, identify solutions for logistics support acquisition, and provide recommendations for effective contract execution. Additionally, the Senior Logistics Engineer leads and coordinates the work of other logistics managers and support personnel while serving as a key member of assigned project teams. Regular preparation and presentation of written and oral reports to leadership and project stakeholders is expected as part of this role.


  • Primary stakeholder for the development, delivery, and implementation of those Logistics products under your purview. 
  • Guide support staff in collecting data to develop those Logistics products for which you are the primary stakeholder. 
  • Support all project phases from initial proposal work and negotiations to the fielding of systems on delivery orders for Indefinite Delivery, Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) contracts. 
  • Assist in the generation of applicable program brief materials for contractual reviews and meetings
  • Perform analysis of logistics data to determine design impacts on sustainment of the training products
  • Perform analysis of hardware design for provisioning to determine spare parts selection to maintain the system throughout its sustainment period
  • Perform review of engineering drawings to assess hardware to technical data design configurations
  • Lead the Contract’s Data Requirements List (CDRL) development and delivery for materials and technical documentation applicable to the hardware utilized in ByLight’s designs. 
  • Lead Physical Configuration Audits (PCA) and Integrated Logistics Support Verifications (ILSVs). 

  • Experience with MS Office tools (Excel, Word, Power Power Point, Teams, Project, Access)
  • Experience with AutoCAD or similar drawing tools
  • Extensive knowledge of Department of Defense Acquisition policies, processes and procedures are
  • Extensive knowledge of the 12 Integrated Product Support (IPS) Elements
  • Extensive knowledge of the applicable Data Item Descriptions for the following deliverables: 
    • Product Drawings and Associated Lists (PDAL) Diminishing Manufacturing Sources and Material Shortages (DMSMS) Bill of Materials (BOM), Logistics Product Data (LPD), Engineering Data for Provisioning (EDFP), Baseline Description Document (BDD), Bill of Materials for Logistics and Supply Chain Rosk Management Operations and Maintenance (O&M), Preventive Maintenance System (PMS), Training System Support Document (TSSD), and Commercial Off the Shelf (COTS) Libraries.

  • Bachelor's in Engineering or Logistics, desired, but not required.
  • DAWIA Acquisition Logistics Level II Certification preferred but not required

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance; active Secret highly preferred
