Job description

What Impact You'll Have
GRVTY's team provides tactical data engineering solutions. We embed skilled Data Engineers, Data Scientists, and ETL Developers directly into intelligence analyst groups to be their go-to data wranglers. We develop new tools, code, and services to execute data engineering activities. Our engineers work to collect, process, and feed analytic tools, turning data into intelligence in response to immediate mission needs, with direct impact on real world situations. You will see your work used here on a daily basis, and you'll have the opportunity to support a variety of Sponsor mission organizations and mission partner organizations. This is a time of development and growth on the program, with an increasing number of missions being supported. The work is high impact and important, and the customer moves quickly. The environment is fast-paced, flexible, and open to innovation - you'll have more latitude here in choosing how to achieve results than on many other projects. The customer cares more about what you can do as opposed to your years of
experience, and work hours are typically quite flexible - roll up your sleeves, get things done, and no one cares much about the specific hours that you work. The work space itself is also quite nice, and there is an excellent cafeteria! The tech stack on this team is rather huge and includes Python (Pandas, numpy, scipy, scikit-learn, standard libraries, etc.), Python packages that wrap Machine Learning (packages for NLP, Object Detection, etc.), Linux, AWS/C2S, Apache NiFi, Spark, pySpark, Hadoop, Kafka, ElasticSearch, Solr, Kibana, neo4J, MariaDB, Postgres, Docker, Puppet, and many others. Work on this program takes place in McLean, VA and in various field offices throughout Northern VA (we cannot support remote work) and requires a TS/SCI + Polygraph clearance (acceptable to this customer).
What You'll Be Owning
GRVTY is seeking a Senior Infrastructure Engineer with a TS/SCI + Poly clearance (applicable to this customer) to join one of our top projects in Chantilly, VA. As a Senior Infrastructure Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in managing and maintaining the critical infrastructure that supports a datacenter environment. Your responsibilities will include overseeing the operation and optimization of servers, networks, and storage systems to ensure seamless performance and reliability. You will be tasked with configuring and managing Cisco switches and firewalls, as well as working with HPE and Dell servers to deliver robust and scalable solutions. Additionally, you will handle advanced storage systems, including Dell, HPE, and PureStorage Network Attached Storage, ensuring data integrity and accessibility. Your expertise will also be required to manage copper and fiber cabling, ensuring efficient connectivity across the infrastructure.
In this role, you will leverage your experience in power and cooling capacity management to estimate and optimize resource utilization within the datacenter. You will create detailed diagrams using tools like Visio or DrawIO to map server racks, physical connections, and network layouts, providing clear documentation for current and future infrastructure planning. A strong background in datacenter operations, including hands-on experience with hardware and network configurations, will be essential for success. Familiarity with industry best practices for cabling, power distribution, and cooling systems will further enhance your ability to excel in this position.
To thrive in this role, you should bring a proven track record of managing complex infrastructure environments and a deep understanding of enterprise-grade hardware and networking solutions. Your ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues efficiently, combined with your attention to detail in documenting and planning infrastructure changes, will be critical. Exposure to tools and technologies such as Cisco networking equipment, HPE and Dell hardware, and advanced storage solutions will provide a strong foundation for success. This is an opportunity to apply your technical expertise and strategic thinking to ensure the reliability and scalability of a high-performance datacenter environment.
What You Must Have
  • Active TS/SCI with Polygraph Clearance
  • Experience in a datacenter environment and strong background in data center operations
  • Experience in power and cooling capacity management
  • Hands-on experience with hardware and network configurations
  • Proven track record of managing complex infrastructure environments and a deep understanding of enterprise-grade hardware and networking solutions
  • Familiarity with Cisco networking equipment, HPE and Dell hardware, and advanced storage solutions
