Position Summary

Join GW MFA and be part of a high-impact team supporting enterprise-wide integration for a leading academic medical organization. This role is ideal for an Epic Bridges-certified professional who thrives in complex environments and enjoys building, optimizing, and supporting critical HL7 interfaces that directly impact patient care and system performance.

The Epic Senior Systems Analyst, Interfaces/Bridges is responsible for the design, development, implementation, and ongoing support of HL7 interfaces for the Epic EHR and third-party systems across the enterprise. This role ensures seamless, accurate, and secure data exchange between Epic and multiple ancillary systems.

The ideal candidate brings strong technical expertise in HL7 and interface development, along with the ability to understand operational workflows and translate business needs into effective system solutions.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Other duties may be assigned.
  • Develop and support HL7 interfaces for the Epic EHR and ancillary systems
  • Design, build, test, and deploy interfaces using Epic Bridges and HL7 standards
  • Monitor and maintain interface performance, ensuring data integrity and timely message processing
  • Troubleshoot and resolve interface errors, message failures, and data discrepancies
  • Perform HL7 message mapping, transformation, and validation (ADT, ORM, ORU, SIU, etc.)
  • Review Epic release updates and implement required interface changes
  • Support interface engine maintenance, upgrades, and enhancements
  • Collaborate with internal teams and vendors to support integrations and resolve issues
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date interface documentation and standard operating procedures
  • Participate in system testing, including unit, integration, and user acceptance testing
  • Ensure compliance with healthcare data standards, security, and interoperability requirements
Minimum Qualifications
 
Education
  • Associate's degree or higher from an accredited institution, preferably in Information Technology, Healthcare Administration, or a related field

Licenses/Certifications

  • Epic Bridges Certification 

Experience

  • Prior professional experience developing and supporting interfaces within the Epic EHR environment and ancillary applications
  • Strong experience with HL7 interface design, development, and support
  • Proven experience building and maintaining HL7 message types (ADT, Orders, Results, Scheduling, etc.)
  • Prior professional experience with Epic Bridges interface development and support
  • Prior professional experience with an integration engine such as InterSystems IRIS for Health
  • Prior professional experience with HL7 data mapping and transformation
  • Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills
Physical Requirements 
  • Walk, bend, twist, and reach above shoulder frequently in an office setting
  • Must be able to occasionally lift, carry, push, or pull up to 20 lbs. as part of the role
  • Regularly exposed to healthcare setting that may require personal protective equipment
  • Requires manual dexterity to operate computer keyboard, calculator, copier machine, and other equipment
