Job description

Ro is a direct-to-patient healthcare company with a mission of helping patients achieve their health goals by delivering the easiest, most effective care possible. Ro is the only company to offer nationwide telehealth, labs, and pharmacy services. This is enabled by Ro's vertically integrated platform that helps patients achieve their goals through a convenient, end-to-end healthcare experience spanning from diagnosis, to delivery of medication, to ongoing care. Since 2017, Ro has helped millions of patients in nearly every single county in the United States, including 99% of primary care deserts.
Ro is consistently recognized as a top workplace in Health Care, in New York, and for Women and Parents-earning more than 20 honors from Fortune, Great Place to Work, and PEOPLE since 2021. In 2025 alone, we ranked top 5 among medium workplaces in Health Care and New York, and top 50 nationwide.
As Senior Director, People Operations, you will lead and scale the systems, programs, and operational infrastructure that power an exceptional employee experience at Ro. You will oversee the core systems and services foundation of the People function-including HR systems, people analytics, benefits and leave administration, compliance, employee lifecycle operations, and employee services-ensuring they are efficient, scalable, and aligned with business and employee needs.
You'll partner closely with leaders across People, Finance, IT, Legal, and the broader business, serving as both a strategic and operational thought partner. Reporting to the SVP, People, this role will play a critical role in enabling Ro's continued growth through scalable systems, data-driven decision making, operational excellence, and a high-quality employee experience. In addition to overseeing the systems and processes that support employees, you will help shape how workforce data and insights are leveraged to improve organizational effectiveness, inform leadership decisions, and guide People strategy.
This role is ideal for a leader who combines systems thinking with strong execution and thrives in fast-paced, evolving environments. As a technology-forward company, Ro employees have high expectations for intuitive systems, seamless experiences, and high-quality support. You bring a passion for improving how work gets done through scalable processes, modern technology, automation, and AI-enabled solutions that create efficient, consumer-grade employee experiences. You will play a key role in shaping the future of People Operations at Ro, building scalable workflows, self-service capabilities, and intelligent systems that enable both employees and the business to operate more effectively.
What You'll Do:
  • Set the strategy and vision for People Operations, including HR systems, people analytics, workforce insights, benefits administration, compliance, employee lifecycle operations, and employee services
  • Build and evolve People analytics and workforce insights capabilities, developing reporting, dashboards, metrics, and decision-support tools that enable leaders to make informed decisions about talent, organizational effectiveness, and workforce planning
  • Own and optimize People systems and workflows, ensuring scalability, data integrity, operational efficiency, and seamless employee experiences across the lifecycle
  • Build and evolve scalable People processes and service delivery models that improve efficiency, consistency, and employee experience across the organization
  • Improve efficiency, scalability, and employee experience through process improvement, automation, systems optimization, and thoughtful application of AI-enabled tools and workflows
  • Identify opportunities to embed AI and emerging technologies into People Operations workflows to improve efficiency, employee experience, scalability, and quality of service delivery
  • Partner cross-functionally with Finance, IT, Legal, and People teams to support workforce planning, compensation operations, reporting, organizational health metrics, and strategic business initiatives
  • Oversee benefits and leave administration programs, ensuring competitive offerings, operational excellence, and compliance with applicable federal, state, and local regulations
  • Ensure strong governance, compliance, and operational controls across People systems, policies, processes, and employee data management practices
  • Lead and modernize employee support operations, including self-service capabilities, knowledge management, service standards, and scalable employee support models
  • Drive operational excellence across the employee lifecycle, including onboarding, internal mobility, and offboarding experiences
  • Apply product management and service design principles to employee-facing programs, systems, and operational workflows to continuously improve the employee experience
  • Lead operational transformation initiatives and change management efforts that improve scalability, organizational efficiency, and employee experience across the business

What You'll Bring to the Team:
  • 10-15+ years of experience in People Operations, HR Operations, or related functions, including leadership experience in high-growth or complex environments
  • Deep expertise in HR systems, people analytics, workforce reporting, workflow automation, and operational process design
  • Experience scaling People infrastructure, programs, and service delivery in fast-growing, technology-driven organizations
  • Demonstrated ability to apply AI, automation, and emerging technologies to improve operational efficiency and employee experience
  • Strong knowledge of benefits administration, leave management, and multi-state HR compliance
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with experience translating workforce data and operational metrics into actionable insights, business recommendations, and process improvements
  • Ability to operate effectively at both strategic and tactical levels, balancing long-term initiatives with hands-on operational execution
  • Strong communication and change management skills, with experience driving operational transformation and adoption across organizations
  • Experience supporting or partnering on compensation programs is a plus, but not required
