Job description

Senior Business Intelligence Developer

Cherokee Federal is seeking a Senior Business Intelligence Developer / Analyst to engineer, automate, and optimize data pipelines and decision-support dashboards supporting a Department of the Army mission. You will serve as the technical SME for extracting and transforming data from complex SharePoint Online environments and integrating those data streams into advanced analytics and visualization solutions. You will build and sustain executive-level dashboards in Microsoft Power BI (IL5) and Army Vantage (Palantir Foundry) to deliver predictive, near real-time insights to senior military leaders. Active TS/SCI is required.

As required by our governmental client, this position requires an active TS/Sensitive Compartmental Information (SCI) clearance to be considered.

Compensation & Benefits:

Estimated Starting Salary Range for Senior Business Intelligence Developer: 190K-205K

Pay commensurate with experience.

Senior Business Intelligence Developer Responsibilities Include: 

  • Design, build, and maintain automated workflows using Microsoft Power Automate to orchestrate data synchronization, transformation, and operational reporting.
  • Architect data extraction and integration from custom SharePoint Online lists, libraries, and Power Apps, including solutions that mitigate large list view thresholds (5,000+ items).
  • Use Power Query (M) to ingest, cleanse, reshape, merge, and optimize semi-structured and nested (e.g., JSON) datasets into analytics-ready models.
  • Develop, publish, and sustain enterprise dashboards and interactive reports in Power BI (IL5) and Army Vantage (Palantir Foundry).
  • Write advanced DAX measures to enable custom calculations, time-intelligence, KPI tracking, and behavioral/operational analytics.
  • Blend SharePoint-derived datasets with Army enterprise systems of record within Army Vantage (e.g., IPPS-A, GFEBS) to support cross-domain decision-making.
  • Implement and enforce governance and security controls, including row-level security (RLS) in Power BI and alignment to SharePoint permission structures and inheritance.
  • Monitor, troubleshoot, and tune scheduled refresh and pipeline performance; implement resilient error handling (including Power Automate “Run After” logic) to prevent failures.
  • Serve as a BI/Power Platform SME, mentoring junior analysts and providing standards-based guidance on development, documentation, and data governance.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned. 

Senior Business Intelligence Developer Experience, Education, Skills, Abilities requested: 

  • Security clearance: Active, verifiable Top Secret / SCI (TS/SCI). Candidates without an active TS/SCI will not be considered.
  • DoD compliance: Active DoD 8140/8570 baseline certification meeting IAT Level II (e.g., CompTIA Security+ CE, CCNA Security, CySA+) at time of hire.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Analytics, Information Systems, Statistics, or related quantitative field.
  • A related Master’s degree may substitute for 2 years of experience.
  • Experience: 8–10 years progressive experience in business intelligence, data analysis, data engineering, or data science roles.
  • Technical knowledge and skills:
  • Power Platform (Power BI + Power Automate): 4+ years building enterprise solutions.
  • SharePoint Online: metadata management, lookup schemas, custom columns, permissions/inheritance, and API/OData querying.
  • Data modeling: strong command of relational design concepts including star schemas, facts, dimensions, and performance optimization.
  • Army Vantage / Palantir Foundry: experience building pipelines and/or analytics products (e.g., Object Explorer, Contour, Notepad).
  • Abilities:
  • Translate operational needs into scalable technical solutions.
  • Deliver accurate, repeatable analytics in secure, compliance-driven environments.
  • Communicate clearly with technical teams and senior stakeholders.
