Job description

Sr. Corporate Development and Affiliations Analyst

Heartland Dental is the nation's largest dental support organization, providing non-clinical administrative support services to more than 3,000 supported doctors across 39 states and the District of Columbia in 1,900+ dental offices. Each Heartland Dental supported office is unique to the community and the patients they serve. Supported doctors are the clinical leaders of their practice, retain full clinical autonomy, and establish their own care philosophies. All Heartland Dental supported doctors are united by a common goal: delivering the highest quality dental care and patient experiences.

The Analyst is a critical team member on the Corporate Development and Affiliations teams supporting the growth and development of Heartland Dental. This individual will help support the broader Affiliations team’s M&A goals, including solo office and large group acquisitions, and other corporate development activity.

This person is responsible for financial and business analysis and evaluation of M&A and other strategic opportunities. The Financial Analyst plays an active role in the transaction process, partnering with internal stakeholders to ensure M&A processes are moving forward, collecting and organizing documents that are needed directly from external owners and bankers, as well as participating and presenting in strategy and investment meetings. The candidate should have the ability to work independently to research, analyze, synthesize, and present qualitative and quantitative concepts clearly.

Below is an overview of the duties and responsibilities you would take on in this role:

  • Assist Corporate Development and Affiliation teams with a wide variety of projects relating to potential affiliations, acquisitions, partnerships, and other strategic initiatives to drive growth of the business
  • Perform financial modeling and analysis of acquisition targets, including valuation and financial statement analysis
  • Helps to manage the entire due diligence and acquisition process of solo affiliations in addition to large group and strategic acquisitions
  • Leads the financial review process and partners with internal teams to streamline the financial process while ensuring consistency and accuracy
  • Researches, analyzes, and evaluates related industries, market segments, business models, and competitive information for other non-transaction related initiatives
  • Assists in presentation of acquisition and strategic opportunities to internal and external stakeholders, including senior leadership team and board
  • Supports business owners and other leaders with ad hoc analysis and strategic projects
  • Assist internal teams throughout entire deal process, including working closely with business development team
  • Facilitate efficient deal closing and coordinate with operations and integration teams for smooth practice transitions

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree with at least one year in investment banking or two years of commensurate experience in this area
  • Experience in building and reviewing financial models
  • Strong computer skills, including experience with Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills, accuracy, and attention to detail
  • Ability to work well under pressure and prioritize multiple tasks
  • Ability to collaborate across departments in order to drive initiatives forward
  • Ability to travel overnight at least quarterly
  • Work well within a team as we are focused on winning together
  • Self-motivated and driven to achieve goals
  • Ability to interact with both internal and external stakeholders
  • High level of maturity, personal initiative, and sound judgment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience in investment banking, management consulting, corporate strategy, or corporate development is strongly preferred
  • Prior healthcare experience is preferred, but not required
  • Remote work acceptable (strong preferrence for Central/Eastern time

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to perform essential duties satisfactorily with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times
