Biomerics specializes in the most challenging machined and micromachined components, including those used in interventional and medical robotics applications. Biomerics offers Swiss machining with integrated laser cutting on precision medical tubing. Laser/Swiss machining enables features to be machined and laser cut in the same process. Our core competency lies in smaller medical components, produced with high accuracy and repeatability. Traditional Swiss screw machining capability is also available for rapid prototyping and production.
In addition, Biomerics utilizes 5 axis milling machines capable of producing complex finished components, while holding extremely tight tolerances.


Job Description:

Biomerics has an immediate opening for an mechanical engineer at our facility in Monroe, CT. Working in a team environment, this individual will help design, build, program, validate, and document automated manufacturing equipment to meet customer requirements.


Job Responsibilities:

  • Be the key resource for mechanical designs of tooling, fixtures and custom capital equipment
  • Communicate internally and with customers regarding program objectives, input, and output requirements.
  • Work closely with controls engineers to integrate mechanical designs with controls equipment.
  • Oversee the entire lifecycle of the machine design process, from planning and design to testing and implementation
  • Analyze the mechanical design and refine it as per the requirement
  • Design and develop mechanical systems, keeping in mind the budget, timelines and other essential resources
  • Report to Management and team members regarding the status of each project
  • Perform regular tests and experiments to determine how to better improve a component
  • Use CAD and 3D CAD programs to plan the mechanical design projects
  • Troubleshoot problems and devise solutions to resolve them
  • Specify mechanical components such as air cylinders, solenoids, fixturing components
  • Creates design documentation for physical items such as holding tools, gripping mechanisms, transport mechanics

Requirements


  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering
  • Prior experience (>5yr) working as a mechanical design engineer or machine designer
  • Experience working with CAD tools such as Solidworks (Preferred), Creo and AutoCad
  • Knowledge in dealing with engineering drawings and 3D modelling

Preferred skills and qualifications

  • Master's degree in mechanical engineering
  • Sound knowledge of GD&T
  • Strong verbal, written and communications skills
  • Understanding of control equipment; actuators, motors, pneumatics
