Hiring for an Electrical Engineer in Glastonbury!

Job Description

This role offers a unique opportunity for an entry-level electrical engineer to receive hands-on training from industry experts and develop specialized expertise in gas turbine controls, automation systems, and power generation technologies. You will build on your strong technical foundation and passion for learning to develop a long-term career supporting gas turbine systems. Working closely with experienced controls engineers and product specialists, you will gain exposure to advanced control systems, instrumentation, communication networks, rotating equipment, and real-world field applications.

Responsibilities

  • Support the design, implementation, and testing of gas turbine control systems.
  • Assist experienced engineers with troubleshooting activities and root cause investigations for control, electrical, and mechanical issues.
  • Learn, maintain, and support turbine control logic, instrumentation, and communication systems.
  • Participate in factory testing, commissioning activities, and field support efforts for gas turbine and power generation projects.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including engineering, operations, manufacturing, and customer-facing groups to deliver reliable solutions.
  • Assist in creating and updating technical documentation, procedures, and engineering change updates.
  • Support modernization projects and control system upgrades for existing gas turbine installations.
  • Travel to customer sites to support commissioning, troubleshooting, and startup activities as needed.
  • Continuously build technical expertise in gas turbine technology, industrial automation, and power generation systems.

Essential Skills

  • 0+ years of experience in electrical engineering, with a strong technical foundation and interest in controls and power systems.
  • Knowledge of electrical engineering principles, including electrical hardware, circuits, and system design.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.
  • Experience or aptitude in troubleshooting mechanical or electrical systems in an industrial or technical environment.
  • Familiarity with PLCs or industrial control systems, or a strong desire to learn these technologies.
  • Exposure to instrumentation and sensors used for measurement and control in industrial applications.
  • Basic understanding of industrial networking and communications concepts.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with engineers, operations, manufacturing, and customer teams.
  • Willingness and ability to travel to customer sites for commissioning, troubleshooting, and startup support.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Internship, co-op, research project, capstone project, military technical experience, or other hands-on engineering experience is highly valued.
  • Exposure to controls, instrumentation, automation, rotating equipment, power systems, or industrial manufacturing environments is preferred but not required.
  • Experience with technical software such as MATLAB, Simulink, LabVIEW, Python, or similar tools is beneficial.
  • Familiarity with pumps, motors, compressors, turbines, or other rotating equipment is a plus.
  • Interest in PLC programming and lab-based testing environments.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a passion for learning new technologies.
  • Ability to communicate clearly in technical documentation and procedures.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $31.00 - $41.00/hr.
