Role description:
We are seeking a Senior Construction Manager to join our Water Business Construction Management team out of Los Angeles, California.
This is an exciting opportunity for a self-motivated individual to join our team locally with support from one of the best-qualified municipal consulting firms in the country. The Senior Construction Manager with the support of a strong nationally recognized technical staff, will utilize their expertise and technical knowledge of construction field management, QA / QC and report documentation, on various construction and/or reconstruction projects for municipal stormwater, water and wastewater treatment facilities or other heavy construction projects.
Role accountabilities:
The Senior Construction Manager is responsible for observing and inspecting contractor-performed construction work to ensure compliance with contract documents, drawings, specifications, and applicable codes. The Senior Construction Manager prepares detailed daily activity and progress reports, reviews project schedules and negotiation of change orders, leads weekly progress meetings, and processes RFIs and submittals. The position requires performing necessary mathematical calculations and determining deviations from contract requirements while clearly and professionally communicating required corrections to contractors.
This role leads quality assurance approaches, monitors code compliance, and supports Arcadis' safety standards through daily site inspections and coordination of special and material testing. The Senior Construction Manager regularly leads construction, safety, and coordination meetings, and recommends sound technical solutions. Responsibilities also include monitoring and documenting contractor labor, materials, and equipment utilization, supporting time-and-material work, and assisting with the negotiation of time impact analysis and change orders to support successful project delivery.

  • 10 years of heavy civil/utility field construction experience.

The position requires strong oral and written communication skills, along with a demonstrated ability to analyze and organize large volumes of data effectively. Candidates should possess proven skills in identifying, analyzing, and developing innovative solutions to complex problems, supported by a high level of mathematical aptitude. The ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously and demonstrate solid time management skills is essential. Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook, is also required. Experience with project management software is desired. Additionally, the role demands the ability to work year-round in various weather conditions, potentially hazardous environments, and flexible shift hours.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related construction management field.
  • Experience with civil construction inspection activities on small to larger sized Heavy Civil construction projects.
  • Experience in construction management of stormwater and recreation facilities.
  • OSHA 30-hour Training Certificate.
