What is a senior companion?

Senior Companions are individuals who provide support, companionship, and assistance to elderly adults, helping them maintain their independence and improve their quality of life. They may assist with daily activities such as meal preparation, light housekeeping, medication reminders, and transportation to appointments. Senior Companions also offer emotional support and social interaction, which can help reduce feelings of loneliness and isolation among seniors. This role is often found in community programs, non-profit organizations, or private home care settings.

Can I get paid to be a senior companion?

Yes, senior companions are paid for providing companionship and support to seniors, often working for home care agencies or as independent contractors. Compensation varies based on location, experience, and hours worked, and may include benefits or stipends depending on the employer or arrangement.

Job description

Do you have a heart for Seniors and enjoy bringing joy to others?

Companion Volunteers are needed for our patients at Paradigm Health. It's as simple as listening to their stories, reading to them, walking beside them, and spending a little quality time. Most of our patients enjoy music and would love to listen and reminisce to some old tunes. Are you a good listener? Can you read aloud short stories or the newspaper? Would you enjoy just holding someone's hand and being a comfort to them? Our volunteers do this and so much more.

Paradigm has received USA Today's Top Workplaces for several years and in 2025 received the overall Top Workplace Leadership Award, illustrating our caring culture that highly values our staff and volunteers. We would love to tell you more about our free training and customizable opportunity based on your interests and needs.

reach out to us today to learn how you make all the difference to someone at this special time in life.
