Job description

  • Administer the PowerBI environment
  • Maintain and update architecture and implementation standards for the business intelligence layer
  • Build and manage data extracts between the enterprise data warehouse and Microsoft Fabric
  • Partner with product software developers to embed reports into customer-facing applications
  • Research and resolve data issues raised by customers and internal users
  • Own resolution of PowerBI system issues by identifying root causes and implementing resolutions when appropriate
  • Review product briefs with Product Management and refine requirements
  • Identify data gaps from a PowerBI perspective and determine whether resolution belongs in PowerBI or the database layer
  • Ensure consistent design patterns and user experience across dashboards
  • Create visualizations according to design and suggest alternatives where appropriate
  • Cross-train across the team to grow broader capabilities
  • Learn upstream data engineering processes and best practices
Requirements
  • 5 years of PowerBI administration and/or report development
  • Experience editing DAX queries for variable creation
  • 3 years of experience using Microsoft Fabric to extract from data warehouses
  • 3 years of experience writing and reading SQL against dimensional data models
  • Familiarity writing and reading SQL queries across multiple tables
  • Experience modifying database models to support reporting needs
  • Ability to communicate between business users and technical teams
  • Experience querying directly from data warehouses such as Snowflake or SQL Server
  • Knowledge of database modeling methods, including dimensional and normalized models
  • Prior work in an agile delivery environment
