How much do senior attorney jobs pay per year?

As of Aug 10, 2026, the average yearly pay for senior attorney in Oregon is $143,942.00, according to ZipRecruiter salary data. Most workers in this role earn between $107,300.00 and $170,200.00 per year, depending on experience, location, and employer.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a senior attorney, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Senior Attorney, you need deep legal expertise, strong analytical skills, and typically a Juris Doctor (JD) degree with a valid state bar license. Familiarity with legal research databases like Westlaw or LexisNexis, case management software, and continued legal education certifications are often required. Excellent negotiation, leadership, and communication skills help you manage complex cases and mentor junior staff. These capabilities are crucial for delivering sound legal advice, achieving favorable outcomes, and supporting organizational goals in high-stakes environments.

How does a senior attorney typically collaborate with junior legal staff and other departments within a firm?

Senior Attorneys often play a pivotal role in mentoring junior legal staff, providing guidance on case strategy, and reviewing work to ensure quality and compliance. They also collaborate closely with other departments such as compliance, risk management, and business development to align legal advice with the organization's broader goals. This cross-functional collaboration helps ensure that legal solutions are practical, risk-aware, and support the firm's overall objectives.

What is a senior attorney?

Senior Attorneys are experienced legal professionals who provide expert legal advice, represent clients in complex legal matters, and often supervise junior attorneys or legal teams. They typically specialize in one or more areas of law and are responsible for managing significant cases, drafting legal documents, and developing legal strategies. Senior Attorneys may also play a key role in mentoring less-experienced lawyers and ensuring the legal team's work meets high professional standards.

Job Title: Senior Litigation Attorney Location: Portland, Oregon Schedule: Remote | Full-Time Salary: $200,000-$400,000 Employment Type: Direct Hire Job Description: LHH Recruitment Solutions is partnering with a growing plaintiff-side litigation firm seeking an experienced Senior Litigation Attorney to support the continued expansion of its practice in the Pacific Northwest. This is an excellent opportunity for a seasoned litigator who enjoys handling sophisticated, high-impact litigation while collaborating with an experienced team of attorneys across multiple offices. The position will be fully remote initially, with the expectation that it will transition to an in-office role in the Portland area as the firm's regional presence continues to grow. This role is ideal for an attorney who enjoys working independently while helping build a long-term presence in an expanding market. The practice focuses on plaintiff-side wage and hour class action litigation, representing groups of employees in complex matters against regional and national employers. There are no billable hour requirements, allowing attorneys to focus on developing litigation strategy, advocating for clients, and achieving successful outcomes. Responsibilities:
  • Independently manage complex plaintiff-side wage and hour class action matters from inception through resolution
  • Develop overall litigation strategy and lead all phases of complex litigation
  • Draft and argue substantive motions in state and federal court
  • Lead all aspects of discovery, including written discovery, document review, and discovery strategy
  • Take and defend depositions, including key fact witnesses, corporate representatives, and experts
  • Represent clients in hearings, mediations, settlement conferences, and oral arguments
  • Work closely with attorneys across multiple offices on complex, high-profile litigation
  • Evaluate cases, identify legal risks and opportunities, and develop effective litigation strategies
Qualifications:
  • Active Oregon Bar license required
  • 8+ years of civil litigation experience
  • Significant experience managing complex litigation independently from inception through resolution
  • Extensive motion practice, discovery, deposition, and courtroom experience
  • Strong oral advocacy and persuasive legal writing skills
  • Experience handling high-exposure or complex commercial, employment, or class action litigation
  • Prior experience with wage and hour class actions or other complex plaintiff-side litigation is highly preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple matters while maintaining exceptional attention to detail
What They're Looking For The ideal candidate is:
  • A confident, strategic litigator who can independently manage sophisticated cases
  • An experienced attorney who enjoys taking ownership of complex litigation
  • A proactive, solutions-oriented professional with exceptional judgment
  • An attorney with outstanding written advocacy, oral advocacy, and negotiation skills
  • Someone who thrives in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial litigation practice
Why Consider This Opportunity?
  • Join a nationally recognized plaintiff-side litigation firm handling high-profile class action matters
  • Litigate sophisticated, impactful cases against major regional and national employers
  • No billable hour requirements
  • Opportunity to mentor junior attorneys and play a leadership role within the litigation team
  • Collaborative, team-oriented culture with experienced attorneys across multiple offices
  • Competitive compensation with performance-based bonus opportunities
  • Comprehensive benefits package and long-term growth opportunities
