Assistant Property Manager – Affordable Housing

Boston, MA Area

Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Assistant Property Manager to support the daily operations of a well-established affordable senior housing community (55+) in the Boston area.

This position will partner closely with the Property Manager to ensure operational excellence, resident satisfaction, occupancy compliance, and financial performance. The ideal candidate will have experience in affordable housing programs such as LIHTC, HUD, Project-Based Section 8, or other subsidized housing programs and possess a strong commitment to serving senior residents.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist with the day-to-day operations of an affordable senior housing community.
  • Support resident relations by providing exceptional customer service and addressing resident concerns professionally.
  • Process certifications, recertifications, annual renewals, and compliance documentation.
  • Maintain accurate resident files and ensure compliance with applicable affordable housing regulations.
  • Assist with rent collections, delinquency management, move-ins, move-outs, and lease administration.
  • Coordinate with maintenance staff to ensure work orders and resident service requests are completed promptly.
  • Prepare reports, correspondence, and property documentation as needed.
  • Support occupancy and waitlist management activities.
  • Assist with vendor coordination and administrative functions.
  • Ensure compliance with Fair Housing regulations and company policies.
Required QualificationsMUST HAVE
  • 1+ years of experience in multifamily property management, affordable housing administration, or a related housing role.
  • Working knowledge of LIHTC, HUD, Section 8, or other affordable housing programs.
  • Experience with resident certifications and compliance documentation.
  • Strong organizational and administrative skills.
  • Excellent customer service and communication abilities.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and property management software.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Current Assistant Property Manager experience.
  • Experience working in a senior housing (55+) community.
  • COS, TCS, HCCP, or other affordable housing certifications.
  • Experience with Yardi, RealPage, OneSite, or similar property management systems.
  • Knowledge of Massachusetts affordable housing regulations and compliance requirements.
