Job description

Position Type: Full-Time Location: Harlem, NY Position Summary: The Security & Safety Coordinator reports to the Safety & Security Manager to provide coordination and oversight of Contractor's security & safety programs. The role reviews and approves security plans, monitors adherence to contractual requirements, conducts site assessments, identifies deficiencies, and reports findings to PMC leadership, the Contractor and the Client. Contractors retain full responsibility for developing, staffing, and operating all site security functions.

Additionally, the role requires experience on largescale heavy civil or transit infrastructure projects and knowledge of OSHA regulations, NYC agency requirements, and safety standards applicable to complex transportation environments. Key Responsibilities: Provide security oversight for multiple construction sites and project locations. Monitor contractor compliance with project security requirements, contractual obligations, and applicable regulations.

Evaluate security risks and identify potential vulnerabilities that may impact project operations, personnel, assets, or critical infrastructure. Advise PMC leadership on security-related issues, trends, and mitigation measures. Review and evaluate contractor security & safety plans, procedures, and supporting documentation.

Verify that contractor security & safety plans align with project requirements, client standards, and contractual obligations. Track plan review comments and ensure deficiencies are addressed by contractors. Verify contractor implementation of approved security & safety measures through field observations and documentation reviews.

Monitor compliance with site access control procedures, visitor management requirements, perimeter protection measures, incident reporting protocols, and other project security requirements. Perform project site walks and security/safety inspections. Observe security controls and contractor implementation practices.

Coordinate observations and recommendations with project management and contractor representatives. Maintain inspection records and supporting documentation. Serve as the primary PMC security point of contact for the client.

Participate in client meetings and provide regular security status updates. Prepare reports for client and PMC leadership. Develop executive-level summaries of security performance, compliance trends, risks, and corrective actions.

Interface with contractor security representatives, project management teams, client personnel, and external stakeholders as required. Facilitate discussions regarding security compliance issues and corrective action plans. Support integration of security considerations into project planning and execution activities.

Coordinate security-related communications among project stakeholders. Review contractor-reported security incidents and investigations. Assess incident trends and identify opportunities for corrective actions or program improvements.

Provide independent analysis and reporting of significant security events to PMC leadership and the client. Monitor contractor implementation of corrective and preventive actions.Required Qualifications Minimum 10 years of experience in security/safety management, security compliance, risk management, construction oversight, or related fields. Experience supporting large infrastructure, underground transportation, utility, transit, aviation, or public-sector construction programs

Experience reviewing security / safety plans, conducting compliance assessments, and preparing executive-level reports. Strong understanding of physical security principles and risk assessment methodologies Excellent written communication and report development skills. Ability to conduct field inspections in active construction environments.
