Job description

This position is responsible for full performance complex work supporting information technology application(s) through planning, designing, implementing, maintaining, and providing ongoing optimization and support. Duties include providing front line support to end users through analyzing and diagnosing problems and determining a solution. This position may perform lead work over lower-level staff.
The Research Senior Analyst is a senior-level member of the CAS Research team responsible for leading the design, implementation, optimization, and support of research technology solutions. This role serves as a subject matter expert for research applications, including CTMS and Epic research functionality, and partners with investigators, research operations, compliance, and IT leadership to deliver innovative, compliant, and scalable solutions that support clinical trials and research initiatives. Given the cross-functional nature of research workflows, this position spans multiple Epic modules and requires a strong understanding of downstream and upstream impacts across clinical, operational, and revenue cycle applications. The Research Senior Analyst develops and maintains collaborative partnerships with other CAS analysts and application teams to ensure solutions are aligned, integrated, and support enterprise-wide objectives. The role demonstrates a deep understanding of clinical research processes and independently evaluates, interprets, and applies Epic and other research system functionality to meet complex research operational needs, ensuring solutions align with regulatory requirements, organizational goals, and industry best practices.
The position independently leads complex projects, drives process improvement, provides technical leadership and mentorship, and contributes to the strategic direction and roadmap of research systems. Working with minimal supervision, the Research Senior Analyst proactively identifies opportunities for innovation, assesses emerging technologies and system capabilities, and translates business and operational requirements into effective technology solutions. This role is accountable for improving research operations, data integrity, regulatory compliance, and the overall investigator and participant experience while serving as a trusted advisor on the use, integration, and optimization of research technology platforms.
Additional Information
Job Status: 40 hours per week, eligible for benefits
Shift: Monday - Friday, 8am-5pm. Work hours may vary based on the needs of the department. This role participates in a weekend and holiday on-call rotation, approximately 2-3 times per year.
  • This position has potential to be fully remote if applicant is located within CHCO hiring region.
    Duties & Responsibilities
  • Analyzes and diagnoses complex system problems, identifies root cause, and then solves the problem or escalates issues to other appropriate IT staff when outside area of responsibility or expertise.
  • Gathers and analyzes information to resolve incidents and troubleshoot problems. Documents the process and resolves the problem.
  • Documents design, application and technical specifications as appropriate. Works with others to create support and training documents.
  • Identifies and clarifies reporting needs and expectations with end users and works with report developers to clarify data and reporting needs.
  • May serve as a subject matter expert (SME) in the underlying data structure to assist report developers with complex report needs.
  • Partners with vendor to troubleshoot and resolve system problems, to improve product performance and usability.
  • Provides vendor with recommendations for system improvements.
  • Reviews documentation for complex upgrades and monthly system updates. Evaluates possible changes and impacts with other analysts and end users.
  • Supports end users and provides primarily Tier 2 and Tier 3 support for supported systems.
  • Serves as a mentor to team members as requested for technical and customer support skills development.
  • Plans, designs, implements, maintains and provides ongoing optimization and support for applications.
  • Gathers, validates, and translates complex technological requirements into design and development specification while providing product management.
  • May be designated as a lead for their team, including scoping and triaging projects for the team.
  • Collaborates with system users to and other IT professionals evaluate, plan, design, develop, test, implement and maintain systems.
  • Addresses highly technical issues that occur during installation and maintenance activities.
  • Completes or coordinates the preparation, coding, testing, and debugging of complex programs.
  • Analyzes, designs and builds workflows to meet the needs of users.
  • Configures and integrates electronic and mechanical hardware with software products to meet the functional criteria of client specifications.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Degrees
    • High School diploma or GED
  • Experience
    • Four (4) years of related work experience
      • Preference will be given to those applicants with prior Epic Analyst experience
  • Equivalency
    • An Associate or Bachelor's degree in a related field may substitute for the required experience
  • Certifications
    • Epic certification in the primary application will be required within four (4) months of hire, dependent on job discipline and assigned functional role. Team members will be sent to Epic for mandatory training and will be given two (2) attempts to pass certification testing as a condition of continued employment. Certain positions, including Epic Phone Support assignments, may be excluded from this requirement as determined by the organization.
    • Preference will be given to those applicants who already have an Epic certification
    • Ideal candidates have either their Research Clinical and/or Research Billing Epic certification

Salary Information
Pay is dependent on applicant's relevant experience.
Annual Salary Range (Based on 40 hours worked per week): $109,636.42 to $164,454.63
