Senior Application Administrator
Location: Fort Belvoir, VA
Security Clearance: Active Secret Security Clearance
Position Overview
Nationwide IT Services (NIS) is seeking an experienced Senior Application Administrator to support a Department of Defense customer at Fort Belvoir, VA. This individual will serve as the primary technical lead for one or more mission-critical enterprise applications, ensuring their reliability, security, and performance throughout the application lifecycle.
Working closely with system administrators, database administrators, developers, and cybersecurity professionals, the Senior Application Administrator will manage application installations, upgrades, deployments, integrations, and security compliance across development, pre-production, and production environments. This position plays a key role in maintaining secure, highly available applications that directly support the customer's mission.
Key Responsibilities
  • Serve as the primary technical administrator for assigned enterprise applications.
  • Install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot application software and supporting components.
  • Plan and execute software installations, upgrades, patches, and application releases.
  • Support application deployments across development, pre-production, and production environments.
  • Configure and maintain application interfaces, APIs, and related integrations.
  • Identify and coordinate application-specific server, network, and firewall requirements.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve application incidents to ensure high system availability.
  • Provide technical support for infrastructure and data center migration activities.
  • Coordinate application release activities while following established change management processes.
  • Implement and maintain Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs) and Security Requirements Guides (SRGs).
  • Generate required cybersecurity compliance documentation and supporting artifacts.
  • Research, analyze, and remediate vulnerabilities identified through cybersecurity scanning and assessments.
  • Collaborate with infrastructure, database, networking, and cybersecurity teams to deliver secure, reliable application services.
  • Support modernization initiatives and evolving mission requirements.
Required Qualifications
  • Minimum of seven (7) years of experience administering enterprise applications in a Windows and/or Linux environment.
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field. Four (4) additional years of relevant experience may be substituted for the degree requirement.
  • Active Secret Security Clearance.
  • Current DoD 8140-approved certification such as Security+, Cloud+, GSEC, GICSP, SSCP, or a higher-level equivalent certification.
  • Experience supporting application installations, upgrades, deployments, and lifecycle management.
  • Experience implementing STIGs, SRGs, and cybersecurity best practices.
  • Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills with the ability to resolve complex application issues.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting Department of Defense or other Federal Government enterprise environments.
  • Experience administering mission-critical applications in production environments.
  • Knowledge of application release management and configuration management processes.
  • Experience supporting application integrations, APIs, middleware, and web services.
  • Familiarity with Windows Server, Linux, SQL Server, networking, and enterprise infrastructure.
  • Experience supporting cloud or hybrid environments.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively within cross-functional technical teams.

Salary range: $85,000 to $130,000 annually
