Both Email and Direct Mail are essential to our communication strategy with constituents. The Marketing Segmentation Specialist 2 position exists to be responsible for finding the right people to whom we send these communications and therefore will be trained at creating lists from SQL queries on relational databases. This person will provide list extraction, segmentation, suppression, quality control, and source code mining in support of multi-channel marketing campaigns all while meeting deadlines. This person will also provide support for the data infrastructure needs and identifying best practices mining data for the Marketing Segmentation team, assuring timely delivery of projects.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Develops and maintains an understanding of ministry constituent and marketing productivity data structure

  • Is current on data management trends and provides valuable insights on how best to serve up audience segments for ministry communications

  • Develops an expertise in email preference management and the ministry data structure/flow for this data, including CANSPAM requirements for email list management

  • Manages a complex marketing list schedule and delivers consistently on-time, accurate lists

  • Develops and provides details for selection plans as outlined by the manager or project owner, develops selection recommendations independently and through brainstorming discussions

  • Can follow complex cultivation and drip campaigns and then determine the data elements needed to make them happen

  • Coordinates with Postal Affairs, Mailing Services and Email teams to ensure end to end processing of lists

  • Creates complex audience segmentations through SQL coding in relational databases and troubleshoots data issues through problem solving and analytical skills

  • Develops a growing understanding of constituent demographic and transactional data and able to advise and guide marketing list requests for omni-channel segmentations

  • Audits lists selected by others in this position, or by other groups within the ministry and coordinates with other groups (internal or external) who may be participating in list selection

  • Monitors schedules and timelines to assure lists for communications are ready on the agreed upon date

  • Assures timely uploads of historical mail and digital files either by monitoring the work of others or by uploading the files directly and monitors the quality of list outputs through spot checking and other QC methods

  • Is responsible not only for project success, but also able to guide and motivate others to achieve deadlines.

Other Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Understands software utilized by the ministry (Salesforce, Marketing Cloud, Aprimo, SSMS)

  • Is responsible for ensuring lists accurately reflect businesses preferences, as well as constituent communication preferences

  • Manages multiple projects for several end-users

  • Keeps supervisor up to date on all efforts

  • Performs other duties as assigned

Managerial Breadth/Scope of Job:
  • Can provide some training for Marketing Segmentation Specialist 1

Working Environment/Physical Requirements:
  • Able to do 80-90% desk/computer driven tasks

Knowledge/Experience:
Required:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer/Decision Sciences, Marketing, Math, Finance or Business; or equivalent experience

  • 2-4 years of experience with complex relational databases

  • 1-3 years of experience creating data segmentations/campaign list management in Salesforce Marketing Cloud

  • Robust understanding of meeting marketing objectives using queries, statistics, and analysis

  • Working knowledge of SQL

Preferred:
  • Data Warehouse Management knowledge

  • Advanced knowledge of SQL

  • Working knowledge of SOQL

  • Robust understanding with omni-channel marketing trends and tools

  • Ability to work with data segmentation/campaign list management, Salesforce Marketing Cloud

  • Project management experience

Pay Range: $60,324 to $72,258
