Basic Qualifications
Bachelor's degree or equivalent is required plus a minimum of 15 years of demonstrated leadership; or Master's degree plus a minimum of 13 years of demonstrated leadership..
CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS:
Department of Defense TS/SCI is required at time of hire with the ability to obtain a Polygraph clearance. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.
Responsibilities for this Position
General Dynamics Mission Systems has an immediate opening for a Business Segment Director overseeing the portfolio of space programs providing mission solutions for data-networking, data-transport, cybersecurity, and cryptography. General Dynamics Mission Systems employees work closely with esteemed customers to develop solutions that allow them to carry out high-stakes national security missions.
The Business Segment Director is responsible for continued growth of a portfolio comprised of several programs and a highly skilled team delivering networking, data-transport, cybersecurity, high-assurance cryptographic and security capabilities to national systems. This person should have experience managing the development and production of high-value mission solution programs to support mission critical systems worldwide for our national assets and should be knowledgeable of: Satellites, Space Missions, Data-transport, Cryptographic solutions and high assurance certifications.
The ideal candidate will have knowledge and proven experience in the development and production of space, embedded, or avionics solutions for our national systems. Candidates must be proven leaders, capable of coalescing a team to execute short- and long-term plans for the organization. Skills in program management, strategy development and execution, and business development, customer relations, financial management are required. As an integral part of the leadership team, a vital responsibility is growing the business, delivering customer satisfaction and achieving both company financial and program execution goals. The Business Segment Director is responsible for ensuring successful program execution, business area growth through award of new contracts, achievement of operating targets, and is expected to have a high-level proficiency in applicable technical concepts. This individual will have at least 15 years of demonstrated leadership, preferably in defense contracting.
Required knowledge and experience in the following areas:
  • Proven experience to successful management complex high-value development and production programs.
  • Experience with satellites, space systems, high-assurance security solutions, and working with certification authorities
  • Candidate must possess strong leadership skills in people management, program execution, team building, and customer relationship management and business development.
  • Work collaboratively with peers, subordinates and business leaders.
  • Proven change management skills, able to lead an organization through change.
  • Candidate must have a vision and be able to clearly share that vision with others; delegate responsibility but must be accountable; and must be able to influence others by persuasion.
  • Proven skills identifying and growing new business and developing short term and long-term strategic plans for growth.
  • Demonstrated effective interpersonal, communications and negotiation skills for a wide variety of audiences including senior stakeholders.
  • Balance process, speed and need, to deliver mutually beneficial results to customers and the company
  • Collaborate with partners (internal and external) to deliver best value
  • Identify, pursue, and capture adjacent/new opportunities
  • Ability to communicate effectively with a wide variety of technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Strong knowledge of financial reports, business measurements and operational metrics to ensure maximum business impact to drive optimal decision making.
  • Candidate must have a proven track record of developing trusted customer relationships.
  • Proven experience maintaining a high level of customer satisfaction based on excellent program performance across a Business Area or large program

Current/Active TS/SCI clearance with Poly is required at time of hire.
