Position: IT Systems Engineer
Report to: IT Security Operations Manager
Job Description Overview
The Systems Engineer is responsible for the reliability, performance, and ongoing improvement of Kwest Group's core technology infrastructure. This role serves as a key technical partner to the IT Security Operations Manager and supports the systems, platforms, and technologies that enable secure and efficient business operations.
The Systems Engineer ensures the stability and effectiveness of server infrastructure, identity management, endpoint management, backup systems, and business-critical technology services. This position plays an important role in infrastructure modernization, operational efficiency, and the delivery of dependable technology solutions that support both field and office operations.
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Administer and maintain Windows Server environments, virtual infrastructure, storage platforms, and related business systems.
  • Ensure server performance, reliability, and availability through routine maintenance, patching, upgrades, monitoring, and system optimization.
  • Support identity and access management processes, including Active Directory, Microsoft Entra ID, Microsoft 365, account provisioning, group management, and access controls.
  • Administer endpoint and mobile device management platforms, including policy management, compliance enforcement, application deployment, and device lifecycle management.
  • Monitor backup systems, verify successful completion of backups, perform restore testing, maintain backup documentation, and support disaster recovery readiness.
  • Lead and support infrastructure projects, including system upgrades, platform migrations, cloud service integrations, server replacements, and endpoint management improvements.
  • Serve as an escalation point for complex technical issues involving servers, Microsoft 365, identity platforms, endpoint management systems, and business applications.
  • Collaborate with third-party vendors and technology partners to support infrastructure initiatives, issue resolution, and continuous improvement efforts.
  • Create and maintain accurate documentation for systems, configurations, processes, infrastructure changes, and vendor-supported solutions.
  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency through automation, scripting, system standardization, and process improvement.
  • Support cybersecurity initiatives through secure system administration practices, patch management, access controls, vulnerability remediation, and technology compliance efforts.
  • Ensure infrastructure systems remain secure, stable, scalable, and aligned with business needs.
  • Perform additional infrastructure, systems, security, and technology-related duties as assigned.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in a senior systems administrator, systems engineer, infrastructure engineer, or similar role.
  • Experience supporting multi-site business environments.
  • Experience with Microsoft Intune migrations, identity platform transitions, or endpoint management modernization initiatives.
  • Familiarity with enterprise networking concepts, including firewalls, switches, wireless infrastructure, and site-to-site VPN connectivity.
  • Relevant Microsoft, VMware, CompTIA, or cybersecurity certifications.

Requirements and Qualifications
  • Degree in Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Business Technology, or a related field; or equivalent hands-on experience in systems administration, systems engineering, infrastructure support, or a related technical role.
  • Strong experience supporting Windows Server environments, Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, file services, and related Microsoft infrastructure technologies.
  • Experience managing virtual infrastructure, preferably VMware.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft 365 and Microsoft Entra ID, including user administration, licensing, authentication, and access management.
  • Experience administering Microsoft Intune or similar endpoint and mobile device management platforms.
  • Experience supporting backup systems, restore testing, disaster recovery processes, and business continuity initiatives.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills across servers, endpoints, identity platforms, cloud services, and business applications.
  • Experience using PowerShell or similar scripting tools to automate administrative and operational tasks.
  • Solid understanding of cybersecurity principles, including least privilege access, multi-factor authentication, patch management, vulnerability remediation, logging, and secure system configuration.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and take ownership of assigned systems, projects, and outcomes.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to document technical processes and procedures clearly.
  • Valid driver's license with reliable transportation.
