Job description

Installs, performs preventative maintenance, troubleshoots, and repairs access control, closed circuit television (CCTV), and intrusion detection systems (IDS) cabling and equipment; follows blueprints of electrical layouts and building plans and ensures equipment is updated and operational, meeting required local, State, Federal codes and requirements.


Receives and evaluates work orders and requests, investigates requests and troubleshoots problems where appropriate, establishes priorities and coordinates with contractors, when required, to make necessary repairs. Issues and tracks work orders and works closely with vendors to assure timely resolution of service issues.

  • Strong customer service skills and able to work with customers and onsite personnel to perform service on customer security systems.
  • Able to program and troubleshoot security systems to ensure proper operations and connectivity.
  • Inspects installation sites and studies work orders, building plans, and installation manuals in order to determine materials requirements and ensure that installation procedures have been met.
  • Tests installed equipment and provides basic programming, such as, adding card readers, cameras, and alarm points to any system.
  • Keeps current on new products and developments.
  • Researches security methods, systems, or materials; makes recommendations and assists with the procurement of equipment and systems; and requests orders for replacement parts.
  • Assists with budget projections for project work, provides project coordination within budgets, approved by management, and obtains quotes for repair and/or installation of systems.
  • Coordinates the work of outside contractors to make sure all work meets requirements.
  • Reviews plans for all access control, intrusion video surveillance, and safety alarm work related to new construction to be certain work meets requirements.
  • Helps train other personnel in the use of security systems.
  • Maintains appropriate records as required.
  • 10 Years experience installing, programming and maintaining security systems.
  • Prefer experience with Hirsch, Bosch and Lenel equipment.
