Job description

PURVIS Systems is a technology solutions partner that develops, implements and maintains mission-critical solutions for federal and local government agencies.

We have an immediate opening for a System Administrator.ย  The ideal candidate is a dependable and technically skilled Systems Administrator who is comfortable supporting users and maintaining systems in a secure, mission-focused environment. This individual should have hands-on experience with Windows and Linux systems, desktop support, system troubleshooting, patching, virtualization, and cybersecurity requirements. The successful candidate will be able to work independently while collaborating effectively with team members and customers, manage competing priorities, and troubleshoot technical issues from initial diagnosis through resolution. The candidate should be adaptable, customer-focused, and comfortable supporting a variety of systems and day-to-day lab operations.

The day-to-day responsibilities of this role will include:
  • Provide Windows and Linux system administration and desktop support for users, systems, applications, and peripherals.
  • Install, configure, maintain, troubleshoot, and update system hardware and software.
  • Administer and maintain Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) environments, including system configuration, patching, maintenance, and optimization.
  • Support and maintain VMware vSphere virtual infrastructure and enterprise backup environments.
  • Perform system patching, vulnerability remediation, and system hardening in accordance with applicable Information Assurance requirements and STIGs.
  • Troubleshoot software, hardware, operating system, application, and peripheral issues and perform corrective or preventive maintenance as required.
  • Perform system backups, maintain software build media, and support system installation, recovery, and troubleshooting procedures.
  • Support cybersecurity and Information Assurance activities, including testing safeguards and implementing applicable IAVAs, IAVBs, and technical advisories.
  • Provide direct technical support to customers while documenting, communicating, and resolving issues in a timely manner.
  • Support additional lab operations as needed, including media transfers, Base Inventory Tracking System (BITS) activities, inventory support, and visitor control.
Qualifications:
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Systems Engineering, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or a related technical field; applicable professional experience may be substituted for education requirements.
  • 1- 5 years of relevant systems administration, desktop support, cybersecurity, Information Assurance, or related technical experience.
  • CompTIA Security+ certification required.
  • Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA) or equivalent RHEL/Linux certification.
  • Working knowledge of Windows desktop and server operating systems, including Windows 10/11 and Windows Server environments.
  • Experience with RHEL/Linux administration, system patching, troubleshooting, and configuration.
  • Experience with VMware vSphere, virtualization, system backups, and enterprise IT environments preferred.
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity practices, vulnerability remediation, STIG implementation, and Information Assurance requirements.
  • Must possess or be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government SECRET security clearance and meet applicable Cyber Security Workforce/IAT requirements.
  • Strong communication, customer service, problem-solving, and organizational skills, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively while managing multiple priorities and deadlines.
Candidate must have or be able to obtain a government security clearance to the level of SECRET.
