Job description

Overview

We are seeking a mission-focused Systems Administrator to support Navy enterprise IT environments. This role is responsible for maintaining servers, networks, and cybersecurity compliance across classified and unclassified systems. You'll work closely with senior administrators and cybersecurity personnel to ensure system availability, security posture, and performance in support of Fleet operations and depot modernization initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Administer and support Windows and/or Linux-based systems, ensuring consistent uptime and secure configuration
  • Configure and troubleshoot Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and GPOs
  • Perform routine maintenance: patching, backups, log reviews, and system health checks
  • Support virtualization environments (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V) and hybrid cloud deployments (e.g., Azure)
  • Assist in implementing and maintaining RMF controls, DISA STIGs, and security baselines
  • Monitor and respond to incidents, alerts, and user support requests
  • Document network/system configurations and standard operating procedures
  • Coordinate with cybersecurity, software, and helpdesk teams to ensure operational continuity

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 4-6 years of hands-on experience in network and systems administration, preferably in a DoD environment
  • CompTIA Security+ Certification
  • Working knowledge of Windows Server, Active Directory, and basic networking principles
  • Familiarity with virtualization technologies (VMware, Hyper-V) and system hardening practices
  • Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting DoD IT environments
  • Familiarity with RMF, STIGs, and vulnerability management tools (e.g., ACAS, Tenable, Nessus)
  • Experience with enterprise tools such as SCCM, WSUS, or SolarWinds
  • Knowledge of PowerShell scripting or automation tools
