Job description

Our client in a leading energy industry is searching for a long term System Administrator contractor.



The System Administrator is responsible for managing, configuring, and implementing systems while securing servers in highly available and protected environments. This role works closely with network and security administrators to ensure system compatibility, performance, and adherence to cybersecurity best practices. A strong understanding of security principles is essential. This position reports to the Director, IT Specialized Infrastructure and Support.


Your Role

  • Manage server hardware and operating systems, including installation, configuration, updates, and maintenance.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation.
  • Monitor systems to detect and prevent unauthorized activity and access.
  • Implement and adhere to cybersecurity principles for enterprise applications.
  • Follow cybersecurity policies and frameworks, including NIST 800-171 and 800-172.
  • Configure and utilize security tools such as antivirus and anti-malware software.
  • Identify security threats and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Design and implement logical group policies for system security.
  • Respond to vulnerability scans and apply necessary remediation measures.
  • Collaborate with cybersecurity, network, and system administration teams to maintain a secure environment.
  • Manage and maintain VMware Virtualization Infrastructure for system availability and security.
  • Configure and maintain NSX Micro-Segmentation and Citrix VDI infrastructure.
  • Establish and manage DNS configurations.
  • Develop and deploy group policies.
  • Configure, update, and maintain log scripts.
  • Manage Apache Tomcat server and services.
  • Oversee IIS 7.0 - 8.5 server clusters and services across multiple sites and domains.
  • Install and manage application delivery controllers, web proxy servers, and related software.
  • Configure, provision, and install hardware and software solutions.
  • Create and manage data partitions based on system design specifications.
  • Monitor system usage and generate reports for management review.
  • Configure, update, and monitor antivirus/malware protection tools.
  • Deploy and maintain security controls to ensure compliance with established security requirements.
  • Participate in security risk assessments and assist in security audit preparations.
  • Work with third-party vendors to monitor and respond to security incidents.
  • Implement and manage controls for user access, system accounts, and usage policies.
  • Assist in developing and testing disaster recovery and business continuity plans.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field from an accredited institution, or 6-8 years of systems administration experience in an enterprise environment.
  • Expertise in the following technologies:
  • Microsoft Active Directory 2019 and ADFS
  • Apache Tomcat, IIS 7.0 - 10.0, VMware, Cisco UCS systems
  • Citrix VDI technologies
  • System management tools (e.g., SCCM)
  • D2/Documentum Administrator
  • HSM Thales/Luna
  • Intermediate Linux administration skills (RedHat Enterprise)
  • Experience managing Internal and External DNS, Group Policy, and ADFS.
  • Proficiency in system backup solutions (CommVault).
  • Strong scripting skills using PowerShell and VBS.
  • Experience with Thales HSM, KeySecure, and Vormetric technologies.
  • Familiarity with Citrix ADC technologies.
  • Knowledge of HyTrust Virtual Machine Encryption technologies.
  • Understanding of disaster recovery strategies and best practices.
  • Dependable, energetic, and detail-oriented with excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to multitask and adapt to shifting priorities as needed.
