Genetec & Axis Video Systems Administrator
Location: Romulus, MI (On-site)
Employment Type: Contract-to-Hire
Job Summary
We are seeking a Video Systems Administrator to manage and support an enterprise Video Management System (VMS) environment. This role is focused on physical security systems, including surveillance cameras, VMS platforms, and supporting infrastructure-not a traditional IT systems administrator position.
The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with Genetec Security Center, AXIS cameras, and large-scale CCTV environments.
Key Responsibilities
  • Administer and maintain Genetec Security Center
  • Manage core components: Directory, Archiver, Media Gateway, and Failover services
  • Monitor system performance, storage utilization, and overall health
  • Configure, troubleshoot, and maintain IP surveillance cameras
  • Support VMS-related servers and infrastructure
  • Manage user access, roles, and permissions
  • Troubleshoot video, camera, and connectivity issues
  • Assist with system upgrades, deployments, and security projects
  • Create and maintain technical documentation
  • Provide end-user training and support
  • Collaborate with networking, server, and cybersecurity teams
  • Provide limited after-hours/on-call support as needed
Required Qualifications
  • 2+ years of experience with Genetec Security Center (or similar VMS platforms)
  • 2+ years of experience administering AXIS cameras or comparable solutions
  • 2+ years supporting and troubleshooting video surveillance infrastructure
  • Experience with:
    • Video Management Systems (VMS)
    • CCTV surveillance systems
    • Windows Server environments
    • Enterprise infrastructure support
    • System monitoring and issue resolution
