Job description

Founded in 2001 on the belief that success begins with quality, Qwaltec is a certified Women-Owned Small Business (WOSB) headquartered in Tempe, Arizona. We are a team of systems engineers, technical training consultants, program managers, and mission operations experts with deep experience supporting the Department of War, NASA, United States Space Force, and commercial aerospace customers. From ground system operations and mission control to technical training and software engineering, Qwaltec brings space within reach - and we are growing.
We strive for excellence and accountability, and we do everything we can to exceed expectations while acting with integrity and compassion. We invest in relationships, and we value openness, honesty, and fairness in all our endeavors.
Qwaltec is seeking a Security Manager to own site and communications security for a secure satellite ground facility supporting a Department of War customer. You will be responsible for the proper handling of all Communications Security (COMSEC) materials - including the handling, ordering, and loading of keying material - and for all associated record keeping, inventories, and inspections.
Beyond COMSEC, you will run the physical security of the site end to end: access control, badging, clearance verification, visitor control, and compliance with applicable Department of War security policies and directives. This position is fully on-site in the Maryland / Washington DC Metro area.
Key Responsibilities:
• Manage the proper handling, ordering, and loading of all COMSEC keying material, along with all associated record keeping
• Coordinate with government COMSEC custodians for the timely delivery of equipment, materials, and keying material
• Conduct secure equipment and classified keying material inventories, inspections, and other COMSEC support and oversight functions
• Execute site security in compliance with applicable Department of War policies and directives
• Manage all aspects of physical security, including signage, the access control system, issuing access badges, verifying clearances, and ensuring gates, doors, and other aspects of the site are properly secured
• Verify that all visitors have the proper clearances and notify essential personnel of expected visitors
• Work with the government security office on all security matters and ensure the site complies with the latest directives and policies
Requirements
• Bachelor's degree and 5 years of experience, or any equivalent combination of education, experience, training, and certifications
• Active Top Secret (TS) or Top Secret/Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI) clearance required
• U.S. Citizenship required
• Ability to work fully on-site in the Maryland / Washington DC Metro area
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience as a COMSEC custodian or alternate custodian
• Completion of DCSA/CDSE security professional coursework or an FSO certification
• Experience managing physical and personnel security at a classified facility
Compensation and Benefits:
• Competitive benefits package
• Professional development support and training budget
• Opportunity to grow with a mission-driven, women-owned small business at the forefront of space operations
Qwaltec is more than a contractor - we are a team dedicated to mission success on and off the planet. Our work spans NASA, USSF, and commercial constellations. We are a company where your contribution is visible, your voice matters, and your growth is a priority. As a small business, you will have direct exposure to leadership and real influence over Qwaltec's future.
