About the role
The Security Specialist / Physical Security is responsible for managing and overseeing physical security measures, ensuring the protection of facilities and classified information.
What you'll do

  • Manage SCIFs' security protocols and accreditations
  • Conduct SCI indoctrination briefings and debriefings
  • Oversee the destruction of IT equipment related to SCI
  • Handle DD-254 processing and SCIF emergency evacuation plans
  • Authorize access control and manage lock changes for SCIFs
  • Maintain Intrusion Detection Systems and conduct self-inspections
  • Ensure compliance with DoD Manual 5105.21, Volume 1 (SCI Administrative Security Manual)
  • Implement DoD Instruction 5200.01 (DoD Information Security Program) for physical security measures
  • Ensure compliance with DoD Manual 5205.07, Volumes I-IV (SAP Security Manuals)
  • Conduct physical security assessments and inspections
  • Oversee the installation and maintenance of physical security systems (e.g., alarms, cameras, access control systems)
  • Manage security incident response and reporting
  • Coordinate with Security Directors to ensure physical security compliance
  • Provide training and guidance on physical security measures to personnel
  • Ensure the security of classified information during transport and storage
  • Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Required Skills / Minimum Qualifications:
  • Active top-secret security clearance, with SCI eligibility
  • Minimum of four (4) years of experience in the security functional area
  • Completed security training from the Cognizant Security Authority (CSA), Center for Development of Security Excellence (CDSE), within the past three (3) years as part of their professional development or minimum of seven (7) years of experience in the security functional area
Preferred Skills and Relevant Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or five (5) additional years of relevant experience with an associate degree or seven (7) additional years of relevant experience with no degree
  • At least five (5) years combined Office of Secretary of Defense (OSD), Joint Staff, or Service-level security experience
  • Experience with handling classified correspondence, knowledge of Microsoft Office suite tools, experience in writing, editing, and managing executive correspondence
  • Demonstrated subject matter knowledge of DoD, intelligence community, and national-level physical security policies and procedures

The pay range for this position is between $175,000 and $210,000 per year. This position is benefits-eligible.
