Overview
About the Role
The primary purpose of the Secretary I position is to provide high-level confidential secretarial services and assist with the administrative activities of the Echo Lab. Identifies opportunities for increased efficiency and cost effectiveness; enhances customer service and demonstrates appropriate psychosocial interventions based on age, developmental and health status.
Responsibilities
What You'll Do
  • Provide confidential and high-level administrative and secretarial support to the Echo Lab.
  • Coordinate and support daily departmental administrative operations.
  • Identify and implement opportunities to improve efficiency and cost-effectiveness within the department.
  • Enhance customer service by delivering responsive, professional, and courteous support.
  • Utilize appropriate psychosocial and communication techniques based on the patient's age, developmental stage, and health status.
  • Maintain confidentiality while supporting departmental goals and operational needs.
  • Contribute to a positive patient and customer experience through effective administrative assistance.

Qualifications
What You'll Bring
  • Graduation from an accredited program in Secretarial Studies required.
  • Four (4) years of full-time secretarial experience required.
  • An additional year of secretarial experience may be substituted in lieu of completing a Secretarial Studies program.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access required.
  • Knowledge of EPIC and LOGICIAN preferred, or the ability to successfully complete EPIC and LOGICIAN training.
  • Experience with additional software applications required by the department preferred.
  • Previous experience in a hospital clinical department required.
  • Previous experience typing medical reports required.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology required.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills required.
  • College credits may be substituted for secretarial experience on a year-for-year basis.
  • Up to sixty (60) college credits may be substituted for two (2) years of secretarial experience.

Compensationhourly
In compliance with New Jersey's Pay Transparency Act, the hourly rate for this position is Probationary Rate TC/2000 $30.21-Two (2) Year Rate $31.63 University Hospital considers multiple factors when determining compensation, including (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate's relevant work experience, education and training, key skills, internal equity, market data, and organizational needs.
