Job description

This position serves as an Engineering Equipment Operator in the Highlands District of the Blue Ridge Parkway. The primary purpose of this position is to operate gasoline or diesel-powered engineering and construction heavy equipment to grade surfaces to rough specifications on all types of terrain, to include mountains and steep slopes, graded curves and shoulders, hilly forests, rocky ground, and other surfaces with similar rough features.Qualifications:To qualify for this position, you must have sufficient knowledge and ability in the following job-related factors:
Ability To Do The Work Of The Position Without More Than Normal Supervision (SCREEN OUT), Ability to Drive Safely (Motor Vehicles), Ability To Interpret Instructions, Specifications, etc. (related to mobile equipment operation), Ability To Operate Safely (Non-Motor Vehicle), Operation of Motor Vehicles, Reliability and Dependability as a Engineering Equipment Operator, and Work Practices (including keeping things neat, clean, and in order)

Minimum Qualifications
: Perform common tasks and have some experience as an Engineer Equipment Operator. Have experience that demonstrates the ability to perform work as an Engineer Equipment Operator and assist journey-level, or other higher graded workers in maintaining roads, fleet, grounds, and equipment operations and maintenance. Worked as an Engineering Equipment Operator, operating graders, bulldozers, loaders, excavators/backhoes, and compactors. Performed routine roads and trails tasks of operating heavy equipment and construction equipment on steep and rough terrain to excavate, backfill, grade or level earth including roads, to exact specifications such as transport. Operated engineering equipment to rip and remove overflow ice and to plow deep and heavy snow in opening roads on steep and narrow mountainous roads adjacent to steep drop-offs.
Commercial Driver's License: This position requires a Commercial Driver's License Class A
