As a Grader, you'll evaluate collectible comics, ensure accuracy and integrity, and contribute to a high-performance team dedicated to precision and craftsmanship.

WHAT YOU WILL DO AS A COMIC GRADER:
  • Authenticate and evaluate collectible comic books using CGC's established grading standards.
  • Assign accurate numerical grades based on condition, rarity, and quality indicators.
  • Identify signs of restoration, alterations, or counterfeit attempts with precision.
  • Handle and store comics with care to maintain integrity and prevent damage.
  • Compare items against reference materials and escalate complex cases when necessary.
  • Record grading notes and item details accurately in internal systems.
  • Meet production and accuracy goals in a performance-driven environment.
  • Stay informed on grading trends, collector demand, and emerging restoration techniques.
  • Collaborate with peers and senior graders to ensure consistency and quality control.
  • Occasionally travel domestically or internationally for business functions and events.

WHAT MAKES YOU THE IDEAL CANDIDATE:
  • Previous experience in comic book grading or as a knowledgeable dealer/collector with a strong understanding of grading concepts.
  • Broad knowledge of comic books, including artists, publishers, variants, pedigrees, and market values.
  • Proven ability to work with precision and consistency in a production-based environment.
  • Strong observational and critical thinking skills for detecting subtle defects or authenticity issues.
  • Comfortable using computers and digital tracking systems.
  • Self-motivated, dependable, and committed to maintaining high standards of integrity.
  • High School Diploma or GED required; associate or bachelor's degree preferred. (e.g., History, Art History, or related fields)
  • Ability to visually inspect fine details, including color differentiation and depth perception, with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Ability to work on-site in Sarasota, FL, Monday through Friday.
