Job description

Job Summary:

 As a Grade Crew Foreman, you will play a pivotal role in our earthwork and grading projects. Your primary responsibility will be to lead and manage the motor grade crew, ensuring the safe and efficient grading of construction sites, roads, pads, and other surfaces while maintaining quality and adhering to project specifications.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Leadership: Lead and supervise the motor grade crew, including motor grader operators, equipment operators, laborers, and skilled workers, providing clear direction and guidance.
  • Safety: Enforce strict adherence to all safety procedures and guidelines, creating a safe working environment for the crew and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Project Coordination: Coordinate and schedule daily grading activities, ensuring that the crew meets project deadlines and milestones.
  • Grading Operations: Oversee grading operations to ensure construction sites, roads, pads, slopes, and other surfaces are completed according to plans, grades, and project specifications.
  • Quality Control: Monitor and maintain the quality of grading work to ensure that work meets project standards, blueprints, and design specifications.
  • Equipment Management: Ensure proper operation and maintenance of motor graders and other equipment used in grading operations and report any equipment issues to the maintenance department.
  • Materials and Crew Coordination: Coordinate equipment, materials, and manpower needed to complete grading work efficiently.
  • Team Development: Train and mentor crew members, promoting skill development, teamwork, and safe work practices.
  • Communication: Maintain effective communication with project managers, supervisors, and other construction team members to resolve issues, report progress, and address changes in project scope.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate records, including daily work logs, equipment usage reports, safety documentation, and project reports.
  • Problem Solving: Identify and address operational challenges or issues that may arise during grading activities.
Qualifications:
  • Proven experience as a Motor Grade Crew Foreman in the heavy civil construction industry.
  • Strong background in motor grading, earthwork, site development, and finish grading.
  • Experience leading and supervising grading crews in the field.
  • Knowledge of construction and grading techniques.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction plans, blueprints, grades, and project specifications.
  • Proficiency with motor graders and grading operations.
  • Strong leadership and supervisory skills, with the ability to effectively manage and motivate a crew.
  • Commitment to safety and the ability to enforce safety protocols and procedures.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Willingness to work in varying weather conditions and at different job sites as required.
  • Valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
