Job Title: Adventure Technician (UTV, Slingshot & Snowmobile Rentals)

Location: Spearfish Canyon Adventures Spearfish Canyon, SD
Employment Type: Full-Time / Seasonal / Part-Time (Flexible)
Position Overview

Spearfish Canyon Adventures is seeking reliable, customer-focused Adventure Technicians to support our Polaris UTV, Slingshot, and snowmobile rental operations. This role is hands-on, fast-paced, and guest-facingideal for someone who enjoys the outdoors, problem-solving, and delivering exceptional experiences.
Adventure Techs are responsible for ensuring guests have a safe, smooth, and memorable rental experience from check-in to return.
Key Responsibilities

Guest Experience & Front Counter

  • Greet guests and provide a welcoming, professional first impression
  • Check guests in and out for rentals efficiently and accurately
  • Review rental agreements, safety guidelines, and operating instructions
  • Answer incoming calls and assist with reservations, questions, and bookings
  • Handle payments and maintain accurate transaction records
Rental Operations

  • Prepare machines (UTVs, Slingshots, snowmobiles) for guest use
  • Conduct pre-ride safety briefings and equipment walkthroughs
  • Inspect units before and after rentals for damage or maintenance needs
  • Ensure all waivers and documentation are properly completed
Rescues & Field Support

  • Respond to guest issues in the field, including breakdowns or navigation assistance
  • Perform basic troubleshooting and minor repairs when needed
  • Safely transport or assist guests back to base when necessary
General Duties

  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the rental facility and equipment
  • Assist with fueling, staging, and minor upkeep of vehicles
  • Support team members during busy periods
  • Uphold all safety policies and procedures
Qualifications

  • Strong customer service and communication skills
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, outdoor environment
  • Mechanically inclined (preferred but not required)
  • Ability to operate UTVs, Slingshots, and/or snowmobiles (training provided)
  • Valid drivers license with clean driving record
  • Ability to lift 50+ lbs and work on your feet for extended periods
  • Must be dependable, punctual, and team-oriented
Preferred Experience (Not Required)

  • Powersports, outdoor recreation, or rental experience
  • Basic mechanical or maintenance background
  • Experience handling guest services or reservations
Work Environment

  • Outdoor, all-weather conditions
  • Weekends, holidays, and peak tourism seasons required
  • Variable hours depending on season and demand
