Job description

JOB SUMMARY

Under the immediate direction of the Event Coordinator or Site Supervisor, the Seasonal Event Staff will perform general labor associated with special events and activities.

SUPERVISION

RECEIVES direct supervision from the Event Coordinator or Site Supervisor.

EXERCISES no supervision.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:


Safety

  • Operate tools, equipment, and machinery in a safe and effective manner.
  • Always use proper personal protective equipment.
  • Utilize proper safety precautions related to all work performed.


Special Events and Activities

  • Provides support services for events, concerts, and similar functions under the direction of the event coordinator or site supervisor.
  • Comply with permit specifications.
  • Duties include set-up and breakdown of equipment; restroom maintenance and stocking; litter control and garbage removal; parking lot and street closures.
    • Examples of Special Events and Activities include but are not limited to:
      • Belton Bacon, Blues, and Brews Festival (B4)
      • Christmas on the Chisholm Trail
      • 4th of July Parade
      • Family Camp Out
      • Soggy Doggy Day
      • Family, Fishing, and Fun
      • Miscellaneous Parks and Recreation activities


Other Duties

  • Other job-related duties as assigned.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education, Training and Experience Guidelines:

Must be 16 years of age or older to apply.

A High School diploma or equivalent or currently enrolled in high school is required.


NOTE: Applicants under the age of 18 years old:


  • Drug Testing - a parent or legal guardian must sign an authorization form for drug testing, and they must accompany the applicant to the drug testing site and stay through the process.
  • Criminal Background Check - a parent or legal guardian must sign an authorization form allowing the City to conduct a criminal background check.


Knowledge of:

  • Safety measures as it relates to the safe use of cleaning and/or sanitizing chemicals.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Withstand possible excessive heat temperature conditions as it relates to the local weather.
  • Work in variable weather conditions, including rain, wind, and fluctuating temperatures.
  • Communicate clear and concise oral instructions.
  • Exercise tact and diplomacy in dealing with the public.
  • Work independently in the absence of supervision.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with other staff.
  • Act quickly and calmly in emergencies.
  • Understand and follow oral and written instructions.
  • Use small hand tools such as shovels, rakes, brooms.
  • With training, operate small power tools.
  • Climb up and down a ladder safely.
  • Must have personal transportation to and from work.
  • Be punctual and regular in attendance.


LICENSES AND/OR CERTIFICATIONS

Maintain a valid Texas driver's license

PHYSICAL DEMANDS / ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS AND CONDITIONS

  • Work is performed in an outdoor environment.
  • May be subject to extended periods of sitting, standing, bending, reaching, kneeling, entering closed spaces, climbing ladders, and lifting.
  • May be exposed to moving traffic, extreme weather conditions, hazardous chemicals, fumes, heights, confined spaces, trenches, air and water borne pathogens, body fluids, infectious diseases, rodents, insects, and snakes.


Work hours will vary depending on the event. Must be available after normal business hours and on weekends. Applicants will be given the schedule ahead of time to opt in to the event they would like to work.
