Job description

Overview

Scope of Position

The Room Attendant delivers rooms that meet brand standards for time, product, and placement. This position supports sales activity by quickly and efficiently cleaning and preparing rooms for resale to newly arriving guests. The role ensures consistently clean and fresh accommodations while delivering personalized service and "the unexpected" in guest experience. Reporting to the Floor Supervisor, the Room Attendant is responsible for cleaning and preparing guest rooms and public areas according to established standards of cleanliness and propriety, ensuring guest satisfaction and maximizing revenue.

Schedule Requirements

The position includes morning and afternoon/evening shifts with regular weekend attendance. Holidays are scheduled as business requires.

Due to the cyclical nature of hospitality, flexibility is required to meet business needs. Participation in "all hands" events may be necessary.

The hotel operates 24/7, including holidays. The company strives to support work-life balance.

Responsibilities
  • Essential Functions

    • Maintain a daily quota of approximately 15 rooms, meeting housekeeping standards of cleanliness and skills-based training.
    • Perform detailed cleaning of public areas, including both front and back of house.
    • Provide coverage for public space cleaning shifts as needed.
    • Transport clean linen from the centralized laundry location to linen closets and housekeeping carts.
    • Retrieve guest room supplies for room attendants.
    • Strip guest rooms of linen and trash when necessary.
    • Empty carts of soiled linen and dispose of trash properly.
    • Maintain adequate supplies in housekeeping closets, cages, and service areas.
    • Stock linen in service areas on all floors to ensure sufficient supply.
    • Respond promptly and efficiently to guest requests for housekeeping supplies.
    • Clean designated areas such as public restrooms, fixtures, vending areas, storage areas, and other public spaces, including handling body fluid clean-up when required.
    • Clean areas by sweeping or hosing floors, wiping furniture and fixtures, removing garbage, and cleaning doors and windows.
    • Monitor and control supplies and amenities to minimize waste.
    • Handle emergency cleaning requests.
    • Perform deep cleaning tasks, including drapery, carpet spotting, wallpaper, and vents.
    • Practice and promote the company's Mission and Values as part of daily operations.
    • Complete additional duties and projects as assigned by department managers or supervisors.

     

    Required Job Knowledge and Skills

    • Exceptional customer service skills
  • Effective verbal communication skills
    • Ability to lift up to 50-pounds
    • Ability to be mobile on feet for entire shift.
    • iPod Touches and/or radios are used throughout the shift.
    • Ability to perform repetitive motions such as pulling, pushing, and bending for extended periods of time. Examples: Moving full laundry buggies, bending to clean baseboards
    • Ability to work as part of a team and in a group setting.
Qualifications

  • In addition to the performance of the essential functions, this position may be required to perform a combination of supportive functions, with the percentage of time performing each function to be solely determined by the Director of Housekeeping based upon the requirements of the hotel.

Qualifications

Experience:

  • Hospitality experience preferred.
  • Experience working with diverse cultures and backgrounds preferred.

Education:

  • High School diploma, general education degree or international equivalent preferred.

Language Skills:

  • Fluency of the English language is strongly preferred.
  • Ability to understand and compose instructions, memos, and short correspondence.
