Job description

Job Responsibilities York Technical College, a member of the South Carolina Technical and Comprehensive Education System, is a public, two-year institution of higher education that offers a variety of associate degrees, diplomas, and certificates. Through maximizing student success, the College seeks to contribute to the economic growth and development of York, Lancaster, and Chester counties and of the State. The Science Lab Assistant performs the following functions: Laboratory Set up: Works with faculty and other part-time lab staff to ensure that laboratory activities are set up properly each week.

Identifies potential conflicts or hazards and works with faculty or the department chair to resolve. Provides support for special laboratory projects or development of new materials. Inventory Control: Monitors inventory and maintains adequate supplies of all lab materials.

Notifies the department chair and lab coordinator when supplies are low or special orders need to be placed. Chemical Safety: Monitors waste production and notifies the department chair and lab coordinator if waste removal is needed. Maintains all safety records.

Minimum and Additional Requirements A high school diploma or equivalent. Preferred Qualifications Laboratory experience is preferred. Additional Comments Applicants indicating degree(s) on the application may be required to provide unofficial copies of transcripts in the application process and official transcript upon hire.
