ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
  • Evaluates, selects, requisitions, receives, and organizes books, multimedia, and other instructional materials and equipment.
  • Suggests appropriate books and multimedia to students for classroom assignments and personal access.
  • Assists students and faculty with use of public access catalog.
  • Assign students and faculty with online searches and research projects.
  • Confers with faculty about provision of appropriate materials for classroom instruction.
  • Confers with parents, faculty, public librarians, and community organizations to develop programs to enrich student communication skills.
  • Investigate technologies that will improve services.
  • Works with principal to establish appropriate use of resources.
  • Plans and carries out a student instruction program for the school library media center.
  • Establish and maintain a stimulating, attractive environment for learning.
  • Know and follow procedures which have been established for the health, safety, and security of students.
  • Achieve an in-depth understanding of the physical, social, intellectual, and emotional characteristics (in a growth context) of the age group of the students accessing the library resources.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Mass certification in Library /Media.
  • May be responsible for the supervision of Library Aides
  • Bilingual applicants are encouraged to apply
