CNA Co-Coordinator

The CNA Co-Coordinator is responsible for supporting the daily coordination of Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) staffing operations to ensure safe, efficient, and compliant resident care. This role partners closely with the primary Staffing Coordinator and nursing leadership to maintain appropriate staffing levels based on census, acuity, and regulatory requirements.

The Co-Coordinator helps manage schedules, fill open shifts, track attendance, and promote accountability while fostering a positive, team-oriented culture.

Key Responsibilities Staffing & Scheduling
  • Assist in developing and maintaining daily and monthly CNA schedules based on census and acuity
  • Ensure adequate staffing coverage for all shifts in accordance with state and federal guidelines
  • Identify open shifts and proactively fill gaps using internal staff and approved external resources
  • Manage call-offs, no-shows, and last-minute schedule changes in real time
  • Maintain and update scheduling software and staffing records
Attendance & Accountability
  • Track attendance, tardiness, and call-off patterns
  • Enforce attendance policies consistently in collaboration with leadership
  • Communicate staffing expectations clearly with CNAs
  • Support progressive discipline processes as directed
Communication & Coordination
  • Serve as a communication hub between CNAs, nurses, and leadership
  • Communicate schedule changes, needs, and expectations effectively
  • Coordinate shift assignments and unit placements
  • Promote teamwork and a positive work environment
Operational Support
  • Assist with onboarding logistics, scheduling orientation shifts, and tracking competencies
  • Maintain accurate records of certifications, licenses, and required trainings
  • Generate staffing reports and provide data to leadership as needed
  • Support payroll preparation (timecards, PTO tracking, etc.) where applicable
Floor Support (as needed)
  • Provide CNA support on the floor during critical staffing shortages
  • Maintain competency in direct resident care
Co-Coordinator Specific Expectations
  • Partner collaboratively with the primary Staffing Coordinator to ensure seamless coverage across all shifts
  • Share on-call or after-hours responsibilities as assigned
  • Provide backup coverage for scheduling duties during absences or high-demand periods
  • Maintain consistency in decision-making and enforcement of policies
  • Act as a leader and resource for CNA staff

Qualifications

  • Active CNA certification in good standing (required)
  • Previous experience in a skilled nursing facility or long-term care setting preferred
  • Prior scheduling, staffing, or leadership experience strongly preferred
  • Strong organizational, multitasking, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency with scheduling software and basic computer systems
