What is a Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) remote job?

A Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) remote job involves working with teams and organizations that use the SAFe methodology to manage and deliver large-scale agile projects, but with the flexibility of working from a remote location. SAFe provides structured guidance for roles, responsibilities, and processes to help enterprises scale agile practices across multiple teams. In a remote SAFe role, employees collaborate virtually using digital tools to participate in planning, development, and review sessions, ensuring alignment and efficiency across distributed teams. This setup allows companies to access a wider talent pool and supports employees in maintaining a better work-life balance.

Search & ComparisonOften compared for Agile scaling rolesCompared for team-level Agile roles

Scaled Agile Framework Remote involves coordinating multiple teams across large organizations using SAFe principles, requiring specific certifications like SAFe Agilist. Scrum Master Remote focuses on facilitating a single Agile team, with certifications like CSM. While both roles support Agile practices, SAFe roles are suited for enterprise-level scaling, whereas Scrum Masters typically work at the team level.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) Remote Practitioner, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) Remote Practitioner, you need a strong understanding of agile principles, SAFe methodologies, and experience in leading or supporting scaled agile implementations, often supported by a SAFe certification. Familiarity with agile project management tools like Jira, Rally, or VersionOne, and experience with virtual collaboration platforms are typically required. Excellent communication, facilitation, and adaptability are crucial soft skills for engaging distributed teams and driving alignment. These skills and qualities are vital for successfully coordinating large-scale agile initiatives and ensuring effective delivery in a remote work environment.

How do remote teams typically collaborate and maintain alignment when working within the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe)?

Remote teams working within the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) often rely on structured ceremonies such as daily stand-ups, PI Planning, and regular sync meetings to maintain transparency and alignment across distributed locations. Tools like virtual whiteboards, agile project management platforms, and video conferencing are essential for real-time communication and collaboration. While working remotely can present challenges in building strong team cohesion, SAFe emphasizes frequent feedback loops and clear roles, which help remote team members stay engaged and aligned with overall business objectives. Regular cross-team collaboration and transparent communication channels are key to overcoming the physical distance and ensuring teams are working towards shared goals.

Job description

Who We Are
At Kyndryl, we design, build, manage and modernize the mission-critical technology systems that the world depends on every day. So why work at Kyndryl? We are always moving forward - always pushing ourselves to go further in our efforts to build a more equitable, inclusive world for our employees, our customers and our communities.
The Role
Kyndryl is seeking a dynamic Engagement Leader, Agile Coach to help some of the world's largest enterprises transform the way they deliver and operate IT. This goes beyond front-end innovation-it includes modernizing infrastructure and operations through true end-to-end Business Agility.
Many of our clients are now embarking on their Agile journey at scale. We need a leader who can drive transformation, influence mindsets, and embed Agile practices across complex environments.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead Agile transformation engagements across single or multiple teams, focused on customer-facing application development and enterprise IT modernization
  • Drive successful delivery of complex, multi-disciplinary consulting engagements, ensuring measurable client outcomes
  • Support Agile delivery resourcing, and contribute to the development of RFPs, SOWs, and solution proposals
  • Partner with stakeholders to define vision, capture requirements, and shape Agile transformation roadmaps
  • Build, lead, and mentor cross-functional teams of consultants and architects
  • Oversee engagement governance, including contract compliance, financial management, and delivery excellence
  • Coach teams and leaders on Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban, Scrum of Scrums) and consulting practices
  • Capture insights and lessons learned to continuously enhance methodologies, tools, and intellectual capital
  • Contribute to practice development, including thought leadership, capability building, and internal knowledge sharing
  • Champion and expand Kyndryl's Agile services by evangelizing offerings to clients and internally

Every position at Kyndryl is an opportunity to be part of something bigger. We're committed to your growth and development-because when you succeed, we succeed. In this role, you'll gain exposure to global projects, cutting-edge technologies, and strategic initiatives that shape the future of businesses worldwide. Your career path doesn't stop here. Whether you want to deepen your expertise, broaden your skills, or move into leadership, we'll support you with learning programs, mentorship, and opportunities to take on new challenges. At Kyndryl, your future is yours to shape.
Kyndryl currently does not require employees to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19, however, if you are hired to work at a client, customer, or partner location, you may be required to show proof of vaccination to align with their respective COVID-19 vaccination policies. Those who believe they are eligible may apply for a medical or religious accommodation prior to the start of employment.
Who You Are
You're good at what you do and possess the required experience to prove it. You have a growth mindset; keen to drive your own personal and professional development, and to support others in theirs. You take your work seriously and prioritize customer impact. Most importantly, you understand that the most successful teams trust and enjoy each other and are naturally inclusive in how you work with others.
We're looking for a seasoned Agile leader with a passion for transformation, strong client focus, and the ability to inspire and influence across all levels of an organization.
Required Experience:
  • 7-10+ years as an Agile Coach, leading large-scale enterprise transformations
  • 7-10+ years working with modern application development and Agile delivery teams
  • 5+ years supporting Agile resourcing, delivery management, and development of RFPs/SOWs
  • SAFe Program Consultant (SPC) certification (required)
  • Deep expertise in Agile frameworks (Scrum, Kanban, scaled Agile approaches) across diverse teams and environments
  • Proven experience coaching senior leaders (VP-level and above) on vision, business cases, roadmaps, and Lean budgeting
  • Strong background in business development, solutioning, and influencing strategic decisions
  • Demonstrated success driving change through problem-solving, persuasion, and stakeholder engagement
  • Experience facilitating workshops, retrospectives, and large-scale Agile ceremonies (including remote environments)
  • Proficiency with Agile tools and managing distributed teams
  • Strong organizational, prioritization, and communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Ability to mentor teams new to Agile and effectively manage resistance to change
  • Experience building and leading teams and managing consulting budgets

Preferred Experience:
  • Thought leadership in Business Agility and creation of Agile playbooks or accelerators
  • Experience with workshop facilitation tools (e.g., Mural or similar)
  • Strong knowledge of IT infrastructure, DevOps, and cloud environments
  • Experience educating executives on Agile operating models and governance
  • Additional Agile certifications (e.g., Scrum Master)
  • Experience with Atlassian or similar Agile toolsets
  • Background in traditional project management and organizational design
  • Experience with organizational change management (OCM) in Agile transformations
  • Familiarity with DevOps and CI/CD practices, especially in cloud or containerized environments

The compensation range for this position in the US is $143,640 to $273,000 based on a full-time schedule. Your actual compensation may vary depending on your geography, job-related skills, and experience. For part-time roles, the compensation will be adjusted appropriately. The pay or salary range will not be below any applicable state, city, or local minimum wage requirement.
This position will be eligible for Kyndryl's discretionary annual bonus program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Kyndryl's applicable plans. You may also receive a comprehensive benefits package which includes medical and dental coverage, disability, retirement benefits, paid leave and paid time off. Note: if this is a sales commission eligible role, you will be eligible to participate in a sales commission plan in lieu of the annual discretionary bonus program. Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis.
