We provide our customers with engineered solutions to help them improve their grinding and dressing processes and reduce their manufacturing costs, increasing productivity while reaching quality requirements. Our customers, which include major manufactures within aerospace, automotive, medical, energy and general engineering, rely on us to provide the highest knowledge of our products and grinding processes to help them improve their operations. We have manufacturing operations in Columbia, SC and Grand Rapids, MI.

Job Description

We are looking for someone who is ready to accept the challenges and rewards of introducing new product and process development ideas to our quality and productivity-oriented customer base. We are looking for a process-oriented individual focused on service who has significant experience with developing and maintaining large multi-decision customers and high-technology job shops in the precision grinding industry.

Key Performance Areas

As a technical sales engineer you will apply your machining, grinding, dressing and process development know-how to meet customer current and future needs. Timely reporting of competitive and market developments is a key to helping S.L. Munson & Companycontinue to be being an innovation leader. You will be required to present your strategies for growing and maintaining our business to the Vice President of Sales and Marketing and report on your progress as requested. Your objective will be to identify, meet and exceed your customer's expectations using our full line of conventional and superabrasive grinding wheels and diamond dressing tools. You will also be required to manage relationships with distributors, integrators and representative organizations within your territory.

Additionally, the sales engineer will:

  • Meet established goals for sales volume, Sales and Administrative expenses and product sales.
  • Assist our customers in solving any product-related production problems through testing and evaluation and providing proper product improvement plans highlighting the proper SLM product.

Benefits & Compensation

S.L. Munson & Company offers a comprehensive total compensation package including a salary and commission, competitive benefits package of life, health, dental and disability insurance, paid time off, paid holidays, and a 401K savings plan. Salary range is $50,000 - $75,000 annually and is negotiable based on experience. The Technical Sales Engineer should possess application engineering experience with a strong technical aptitude in grinding processes. You should be passionate and enthusiastic about developing your sales career and ready to hit the ground running. You are a self-starter with a dynamic personality and a strong sense of integrity. You recognize that cultivating effective partnerships with our customers and delivering solutions that meet their current and future demands is essential to growth and success. You should possess and demonstrate ability to work independently from a home office, supporting industrial customers in an assigned territory. Additionally you have a well-developed ability to prioritize, follow up, and close deals.

Requirements:

  • Located in central Indiana
  • 5 years experience in related field
  • Experience in manufacturing, engineering, or procurement of precision abrasives is a plus
