Job description

The Role:
The Safety/Training Coordinator is a key high-level position within the Deckers Distribution Facilities. The Safety/Training Coordinator reports to the Manager of Loss Prevention Safety and Training and aids them in supporting, communicating and mitigating any and all Safety and Training concerns to Leadership and floor associates within the Deckers Distribution Facilities.
The Safety/Training Coordinator works in conjunction with the Manger of Loss Prevention, Safety and Training in leading the effort to efficiently and effectively champion the safety program and provide guidance to Deckers Leadership and On-Site Temp. agency.
Key responsibilities include, but not limited to:
  • Serve as the Safety Department liaison to Leadership and production floor associates to ensure "buy-in" regarding safety reduction by engaging, coaching and training.
  • Assist in creating, implementing and enforcing OSHA standards/programs and Safety SOP's to all Leadership and associates.
  • Maintain confidentiality involving safety incidents/recordables for Deckers and On-Site Temp. agency.
  • Conduct safety inspections, incident investigations and analysis, safety training, and safety reporting upon request to prevent reoccurrences.
  • Prepare internal communications with regards to safety concerns to ensure regulatory compliance with in the facility.
  • Responds to emergency situations and participates in safety incident investigations.
  • Act as a resource and support the implementation and execution of the Safety and Training Programs.
  • Ensure OSHA compliance and proper communication regarding PIT (Power Industrial Truck) training to all operators.
  • Coordinate and facilitate the on-boarding efforts of new hires/operators and updates new material as needed.
  • Maintain professional relationships with peers, Leadership and On-Site Temp. agency.
  • Work closely with on-site temp. agency safety team and PIT recruiters/trainers.
  • Deliver hands on training for all new PIT operators to ensure all new operators are validated to safely operate within our facility and attend Deckers Buddy Training Program.
  • Conduct final evaluations with Leadership to ensure all operators can safely operate within our facility on their own.

Skills/Competencies and Requirements:
  • High school or equivalent diploma.
  • 3+ years of experience in safety and training or other related field.
  • Experience with MS Office Professional Suite, including Excel.
  • Workplace Violence and/or Business Continuity experience.
  • Analytical experience in performance based, action and results oriented setting.
  • Ability to deliver material in a classroom setting and one-on-one.

Range:
$23.00-$25.00.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently with off-site supervision.
  • Demonstrated ability to engage with others at all levels.
  • Must have strong oral and written communication skills in English and Spanish (Bi-Lingual preferred).
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced and multi-tasking environment.
  • 1+ year of leadership or management experience.
  • Experience with warehouse or distribution center services.
  • Experience with iWarehouse or similar PIT tracking software.
  • OSHA 10/30 and First Aid/CPR/AED certified.
  • Raymond Train the Trainer or similar certification.
