Job Summary:

The part-time Occupational Safety (OSH) Instructor is responsible for providing high-quality instruction within the Occupational Safety program at Red Rocks Community College. This position primarily teaches OSHA 30-Hour Construction Industry Standards (OSH 1311) and related occupational safety courses that prepare students for safe work practices and employment in construction and other skilled trades industries.

Under the direction of the Director of Skilled Trades, the instructor delivers classroom, hybrid, online, and field-based instruction in accordance with OSHA Outreach Training Program requirements, approved curriculum, established course outcomes, Colorado Community College System and Red Rocks Community College policies and procedures, Colorado Career and Technical Education standards, and current industry practices. The instructor fosters an inclusive learning environment that promotes student engagement, workplace safety, regulatory compliance, and workforce readiness.

Responsibilities include preparing and delivering instruction; assessing and evaluating student learning; maintaining accurate academic records; providing timely feedback and final grades; utilizing the College's learning management system and instructional technologies; and ensuring course materials and syllabi meet institutional requirements. The instructor collaborates with Skilled Trades leadership to promote consistent course delivery, continuous program improvement, and student success while modeling professional workplace behaviors and reinforcing safe work practices.
Work schedules are based on departmental needs and may include day, evening, weekend, face-to-face, hybrid, online, classroom, field-based, and occasional off-site instruction. This posting may be used to fill multiple part-time instructional assignments based on program needs and instructor qualifications.

Part-time Instructors perform instruction-related duties, and responsibilities in their respective areas of expertise at the College in accordance with the philosophy, policies, and procedures of the Colorado Community College System and Red Rocks Community College. This posting will be used to fill multiple part-time Instructor vacancies. Finalist must be willing to make Colorado their primary workplace, including online courses. This posting will be used to fill multiple vacancies.

Compensation is based on credit hour/contact hour ratios and ranges from $1,213.06 to $1,333.42 per credit hour.

Competencies/KSAs:

• Knowledge of OSHA Construction Standards (29 CFR 1926), construction safety practices, hazard recognition, and regulatory compliance.
• Ability to teach OSHA 30-Hour Construction and related occupational safety courses in classroom, hybrid, online, and field-based learning environments.
• Ability to explain OSHA regulations and construction safety concepts clearly to students with varying levels of experience.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, collaboration, and mentoring skills.
• Ability to work effectively with diverse student populations and foster an inclusive learning environment.
• Proficiency with instructional technology, learning management systems, and standard office software.
• Ability to follow approved curriculum, student learning outcomes, and college policies and procedures.
• Flexibility to teach daytime, evening, weekend, hybrid, laboratory, classroom, and off-site courses as assigned.
• Ability to adapt instruction to meet program needs, course objectives, and varying student learning needs.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Qualifies for a Colorado postsecondary Career and Technical Education credential, including 4,000 non-teaching occupational hours within the last seven years.
• Current OSHA Authorized Construction Trainer through the OSHA Outreach Training Program.
• Authorized and certified to teach the OSHA 30-Hour Construction Outreach Training Program and issue OSHA 30-Hour Construction course completion cards.
• Meets all Red Rocks Community College and Colorado Community College System instructional requirements.
Physical & Cognitive Demands:

The following are some of the physical and cognitive demands commonly associated with this position:
• Occasionally moves, positions, and transports files and office materials weighing up to 25 lbs.
• This is largely a sedentary role. This position operates in a classroom environment and constantly uses a computer, and routinely uses standard office equipment including phones, copiers, etc.
• Regularly works in classroom and instructional environments while teaching occupational safety courses.
• Frequently stands, walks, bends, reaches, and demonstrates safety practices and instructional equipment
• The person in this position constantly communicates with internal and external constituents and students. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
• Cognitive demands include comparing, copying, computing, compiling, analyzing, coordinating, synthesizing, negotiating, communicating, instructing, and interpersonal skills.
• Must be able to recognize safety concerns, respond to student questions, and provide clear directions during instructional activities.

Advertised Pay
The compensation for this position is $1,213.06 to $1,333.42 per credit hour, commensurate with education and experience. This is a part-time, FLSA-exempt position, and may work up to 28 hours per week, depending on budget and need. This position has been exempted from the State Classified System.
