They coordinate cross-functional teams, manage timelines, budgets, and resources, and ensure that SaaS products or services meet business goals and customer needs. SaaS Program Managers often work closely with product managers, engineers, sales, and customer success teams to deliver high-quality, cloud-based software solutions.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a SaaS Program Manager, and why are they important?

To thrive as a SaaS Program Manager, you need strong project management skills, a solid understanding of SaaS business models, and experience leading cross-functional teams, often supported by a bachelor's degree in business, computer science, or a related field. Building strong relationships across teams and proactively addressing potential bottlenecks helps ensure successful program outcomes.

Job description

Workiva is seeking a Lead Program Manager to lead high-impact Go-To-Market (GTM) initiatives that drive alignment, scalability, and operational excellence across our revenue engine. As part of the Enterprise Program Management (ePMO) team, you will partner with senior leaders across Sales, Marketing, Customer & Partner Experience, Product, Finance, Legal, and Business Technology to deliver complex, cross-functional programs that accelerate growth and improve customer outcomes.

This role is ideal for a strategic operator who has experience working with GTM functions in a >$1B, public SaaS organization, brings structure to ambiguity, drives execution without formal authority, and thrives in a fast-paced environment.

What You'll Do

GTM Strategy & Execution

  • Partner with GTM and business leaders to scope, plan, and execute programs that drive growth, efficiency, and customer success.

  • Lead cross-functional initiatives such as lead to cash, revenue intelligence, AI for Sales, data enrichment and customer lifecycle optimization.

  • Define and improve GTM processes to ensure consistency, scalability, and clarity across teams.

  • Support strategic planning cycles, aligning GTM programs to company objectives and key milestones.

Program Leadership & Delivery

  • Lead end-to-end delivery of complex GTM programs, from scoping through execution and adoption.

  • Own program structure, operating models, timelines, dependencies, and risk mitigation strategies.

  • Drive accountability across stakeholders, proactively resolving blockers and escalating key decisions.

  • Communicate program status, risks, and outcomes to senior leadership.

  • Partner with Business Systems, Data & Analytics, and Enablement teams to ensure operational readiness and system support.

  • Track KPIs and measure program impact against defined outcomes.

Cross-Functional Leadership

  • Align stakeholders across Sales, Marketing, CPX, Partners, Product, and Technology to deliver shared outcomes.

  • Navigate ambiguity and shifting priorities while maintaining program momentum.

  • Build alignment, secure buy-in, and balance competing priorities across complex initiatives.

  • Foster a culture of collaboration and shared ownership across the GTM ecosystem.

Change Management & Enablement

  • Lead change management efforts, including stakeholder engagement, communication, and rollout planning.

  • Partner with enablement and operations teams to ensure successful adoption of new tools, processes, and programs.

  • Develop documentation, training, and communications to support GTM initiatives.

  • Establish best practices for repeatable, scalable program delivery.

What You'll Need

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Operations, or related field (or equivalent experience).

  • 8+ years leading large-scale GTM or RevOps programs, including lead-to-cash processes and enterprise system implementations in a public SaaS company (>$1B revenue).

  • Experience with GTM systems such as Salesforce, Marketo, Gong, or Gainsight.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working across Sales, Marketing, Customer, and Partner organizations.

  • Background in public SaaS or B2B technology environments.

  • Strong communication, planning, and organizational skills, with experience engaging senior stakeholders.

  • Exposure to sales strategy, marketing operations, or customer lifecycle programs.

  • PMP, Agile, or similar certification.
