Job description

The Crane Operator operates scrap handling equipment to include; frontend loader with bucket, material handlers equipped with both a magnet or a hydraulic grapple, excavator with shear attachment, 12k lb forklift or smaller with rotator. Operators are to follow all Sims safety regulations and golden rules. Also, actively participate in safety meetings, and enter any safety findings into Sims safety KMI system. Operator will provide pre-shift and end of shift inspections and is responsible for greasing and daily upkeep of equipment and work areas.
Job Responsibilities:
  • Performs routine maintenance on loader such as lubricating, fueling, and cleaning.
  • Completes inspection report prior to using equipment.
  • Safely operate machinery under the direction of the shift supervisor or production manager. Load trucks, pile scrap material, load/unload barges and rail cars.
  • End of shift clean up and equipment inspection.
  • Participate in safety meetings and programs.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

Job Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Minimum of 12 months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
