Job Title: AS/400 RPG Developer
Location: Memphis, TN or Remote
Overview
We are seeking an experienced AS/400 RPG Developer to enhance, modernize, and support mission-critical applications running on the IBM i platform. This role is well suited for a developer who can work effectively with established RPG applications while using modern source-control and development practices to improve code quality and maintainability.
Key Responsibilities Develop, maintain, and enhance RPG IV and ILE RPG applications on IBM i. Analyze and refactor existing RPG code to improve performance, maintainability, and application design. Use GitHub for source control, collaboration, and code management. Troubleshoot production issues, debug applications, and implement ongoing enhancements. Partner with business stakeholders and technical teams to gather requirements and deliver practical solutions. Create and maintain technical documentation throughout the development lifecycle. Support application testing, deployment, and knowledge-transfer activities. Required Qualifications At least seven years of RPG IV or ILE RPG development experience on the IBM i/AS/400 platform. Hands-on experience enhancing, refactoring, or modernizing existing RPG applications. Experience using GitHub for source-code management and team collaboration. Strong understanding of the software development lifecycle and application-support practices. Strong troubleshooting, documentation, communication, and problem-solving skills. Ability to work independently while collaborating with business and technical stakeholders. Preferred Qualifications Experience using AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot, Codex, or comparable tools within Visual Studio Code. (Highly preferred) Experience writing and working with SQL within RPG applications. (Highly preferred) Experience with TURNOVER or a similar IBM i change-management tool.
