Job description

JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Scheduled Weekly Hours: 40
Shift time: 12:00 - 8:30 pm, every other weekend
Summary of the Job:
Coordinates the preparation, service and storage of food for patients. Leads Room Service team to complete departmental goals. Schedules Staff. Ensures Room Service line operates efficiently. Directly supervises daily activities of Room Service workers. Checks all menu items for accuracy, acceptability, quality and adherence to the diet order/recipes. Rejects any unacceptable food items and requests replacement items. Make sure supplies are replenished on the trayline. Directs staff to change assignments as needed to ensure patient/customer satisfaction. Documents progress of staff and areas needing improvement. Takes appropriate steps to resolve staff issues. Liaison between the departments and room service. Communicates politely and effectively with staff and patients. Assumes the role of patient advocate. Helps wherever and whenever needed. Demonstrates acceptance of C.A.R.E.S. and H.A.A.C.P. standards.
Minimum Qualifications: Qualities needed include compassion, flexibility, adaptability, patient/customer focus, and strong work ethics. Computer skills or willingness and ability to learn. Working knowledge of scheduling and production. Ability to learn basic multi-line phone system. An ability to work as a team with a variety of different departments/people and willingness to comply with hospital/departmental appearance standards. Able to read and follow verbal and written instructions.
Preferred Qualifications: High school diploma or GED preferred. Customer service experience preferred. Five {5} years Food Service experience or 1 year Food Service Supervision preferred.
Physical Demands:
Must possess good physical health. Some requirements include but are not limited to sitting, standing or walking for long periods of time. Lifting at least 20 pounds is required. Must be able to work with a moderate level of noise.

Constant (67%-100%) - talking, hearing, seeing
Frequently (34%-66%)- reaching, handling/feeling
Occasionally (1%-33%)- lifting, carrying, pushing/pulling, balancing, stooping, crouching
