Responsibilities & Qualifications

Purpose of the role:

To provide roll and chock assemblies as required for the Hot and Cold mills to deliver the business plan.

To service chocks, grind rolls, and support Engineering for equipment and operational improvements.

Core accountabilities:

1. Use and care of micrometers, calipers, measuring equipment, and tools.2. Use and care of hardness tester. Profilometer, and roll skate.3. Use and care of computer for entering and tracking Roll Shop Data.4. Use and operation of Mesta back up roll grinder.5. Use and operation of Herkules work roll grinder. 6. Use and operation of crane and proper lifting techniques.7. Ability to properly disassemble, service, and reassemble back up and work roll chocks.8. Ability to de-chock and chock back up and work rolls.9. Ability to operate forklift.10. Ability to communicate effectively with others and work as part of a Team.

Skills and Education:

Knowledge and experience of machining including previous machine shop work Ability to learn operation of surface roll grinders (Mesta / Hercules). Troubleshooting, inspection, maintenance/repair of chocks, bearings and rolls General knowledge of industrial equipment. Work in a safe manner in compliance with all Aleris safety and environmental requirements, policies, and regulatory statutes. Notify appropriate personnel of irregularities in operating equipment or materials; maintain clean and orderly conditions in work area. Coordinate and carry out various tasks as assigned by management. Possess strong organizational skills, a positive attitude and the ability to work well with others in a team environment. High School Diploma or GED.

Location Profile

Opened in 1985 the Uhrichsville facility produces flat rolled aluminum coil. The Recycling mill prepares scrap aluminum that is used in the rolling mill to create rolled aluminum coils to a desired gauge. Anneals temper the aluminum then it is leveled and sized to customer specification. Employing more than 400 people the facility produces aluminum sheet for building and construction automotive distribution transportation and consumer durable applications.
