Job description

The purpose of a Roll Operator is to set up and operate roll forming line to form bends, rolls, beads and punches holes in the fabricated profiles. Operates all secondary equipment that is associated with the roll forming process. Support the production team by assembling parts, operating machinery, bending, punching or sawing of metal products as instructed by supervisors.

Essential Functions

  • Loads, unload, and moves materials within or near the plant, yard, or work site, performing any combination of following duties: Reads work order(s) or follows oral instructions from Department Supervisors for certain materials or containers to be moved
  • Loads and unloads materials onto or from pallets, trays, racks, and shelves by hand
  • Loads and unloads materials from delivery vehicles and installs strapping, bracing, or padding to prevent shifting or damage in transit, using hand tools
  • Conveys materials to or from storage or work sites to designated area, using a hand truck, forklift, or another device
  • Secures lifting attachments to materials and conveys load to destination, using hand-operated crane or hoist, or signals crane or hoisting operators to move a load to a destination when needed
  • Lifts heavy objects by hand or using power hoist, and cleans work area, machines, and equipment, using a broom, rags, and cleaning compounds, to assist machine operators
  • Label all material as required, including traceable items such as heat numbers, CE(v)’s, etc.
  • Assist Receiving and other team members with loading and unloading full plate sheets as necessary
  • Maintain part numbers and labels on all material racks to assist with inventory tracking
  • Operate manufacturing equipment such as press, forming rolls, bandsaw, and burning table(s) as assigned
  • Operate the roll forming line and other machinery used in the production process or assist other machine operators
  • Set up tooling, load programs, and set machine parameters to ensure optimal performance of the equipment
  • Test run new roll form tooling to generate sample parts
  • Be able to handle raw material with overhead crane and load roll forming machine with raw material
  • Be able to determine the condition of tools (rework and clean when necessary) and verify coolant levels in the equipment
  • Assemble items as instructed by supervisor
  • Prepare product for shipment
  • Lift raw materials, final products, and items packed for shipment, manually, or using a hoist
  • Operate machinery used in the production process or assist machine operators
  • Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations

Qualifications:

  1. High School Diploma or Equivalent
  2. Knowledge of various metal grades, thicknesses, sizes
  3. Knowledge of computer programs to include but not limited to word, excel, label makers, etc.
  4. Ability to read various measurements
