This is a mobile role with base in or around Calvert or Mobile, Alabama.

Purpose:

The Tundish Technician will be responsible to build close relationships with Vesuvius Sales team that interface locally with our customers. There relationships can augment our overall field service efforts as the local representative can serve a point of first contact for the customer.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support/drive installation, configuration, troubleshooting and maintenance of equipment with the objective of 95% up time.
  • Use test and diagnostic equipment to identify root cause problems and put corrective actions in place.
  • Perform preventive and unscheduled maintenance duties on production equipment.
  • Look for and report opportunities for systems upgrades, new systems sales.
  • Provide timely feedback and support to all customer service requests.
  • Communicate the results of maintenance/service activities with the team clearly and concisely.

Qualifications:

  • Associate's Degree required in engineering technologies, industrial, mechanical, electro-mechanical. Bachelor's preferred.
  • Strong technical background in mechanics, electronics, modest networking.
  • Understanding of computer systems, Windows OS, Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to read and understand engineering drawings, PID, Electrical schematic.
  • Must work well in multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Ability and willingness to work on the main floor of a steel mill under sometimes hot and dusty conditions.
  • Strong work ethic with ability to work independently and multitask.
  • High-energy team player with good interpersonal skills.
  • Passionate about customer support.
  • Strong ability to manage customer-facing activities.
  • Excel in a fast-paced environment and can handle multiple tasks at once.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills (English).
  • Organized, self-Motivated and project oriented.
  • Flexible with regards to work schedule, occasional evenings and weekends.
  • Safe work attitude.
  • Willingness to travel 10%.

The Tundish Technician reports to the Technical Sales Lead assigned to the region. The specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including experience, education and location.
